How - how - how - can you do that? We are a team with their heads up their butts tonight - everything good is followed by a bone head screw up. That was 2nd and 3rd right there.

That's a bad job by the 3rd base coach.

So, Brock might have inadvertently damaged his team even more if they go on to lose now. Burning pitchers, squandering a beautiful gem from Sale, blew a lead... hero to goat in the same inning.

I don't know how you don't run for a gimpy baserunner in the bottom of the 9th when he's the tying run. Because it did nothing for the team replacing him with Chavis and now they're out their best hitter in a weak lineup. You don't know if it's going to matter or not when you make the decision. The only thing that matters is that that run scores, so you give yourself the best chance to do that. It's not even a decision.

Out by an eyelash at home. Almost close enough for a replay challenge.

The only thing that matters is that that run scores, so you give yourself the best chance to do that. It's not even a decision. It rarely works and it's not like Chavis is a burner. I questioned it before the play so it's not 20/20. If they were pinch running someone like Raji Davis then I'd be fine with it. I don't love taking out your best hitter when you're struggling to get a run. In fact, if Holt was any slower they'd maybe have won by now.

Nunez tonight 0-3 with 2 Ks. Hernandez now batting .500. (just seems time to ask this question again - WHY is Nunez on this team?)

Not trying as hard as possible to score the tying run because you're thinking about having a better hitter available for a theoretical 11th inning is just ludicrous I'm more than willing to question bad managerial decisions, but this isn't even close to one. It's as close to a no-brainer as they get.

For me, I thought Cora made all the logical moves.
You run for JDM because you don't want him injuring himself trying to tie it. You use Chavis because there's a righty on the mound and he bats right handed. You pinch hit for Travis and Nunez with your remaining left handed hitters.

Just Barnes didn't come thru and the 3rd base coach did a lousy job.

There's a number of batters ahead of Chavis to worry about handedness when it's a bullpen game.
