Yoan Aybar has faced 30 batters this month and has allowed 1 hit, struck out 11, with 15% swinging strikes. The control has been better too. He is an interesting case being rule 5 eligible. The Sox protected Denyi with the potential as a back end starter but hard to see them doing that for a reliever that far away.

Brock Bell done after 4 pitches? Baby steps. But four batters, too. They must be really hacking.

Brock Bell done after 4 pitches? Baby steps. GCL and DSL pitch count stats are not accurate.

Poor Antoni, he's struck out 7 of hist last 11 at bats. Antoni's last few days: - Playing 2nd Base today - DHing yesterday - Got a day off - Lowell day off - Played SS That's a lot of moving parts for a teenager playing his 1st season US ball. Hopefully Cannon moves to GVL quickly so he can have consistent at bats. He needs it.

Duran out of lineup. His struggles in AA are eye opening "Out of lineup" meaning he got a day off? You know that minor leaguers get like a day off a week, right? It is fine that you're lower on Duran than the board, but coming on here to post on the gameday thread every time he has an 0-for as if that validates your opinion is straight-up bush league. The guy went from Long Beach State to Double-A in 12 months. Your daily celebration of his slump is BS. Cut it out.

I’ve seen posters write far more negative stuff about Dalbec and Nunez then I have wrote regarding Duran. I have bigger concerns with Duran then his bat. His fielding and lack of an arm are a huge concern to me if his bat doesn’t play. I’m hoping his bat does come around, because I think he will need to develop into a plus hitter in order to make up for the defense and arm.

He’s had to learn a brand new position in the last year and a half. He’ll get there with the defense, which I honestly haven’t even seen anything negative about.

I don't know what you could possibly see live that I haven't seen on MiLB TV but defense going forward is pretty clearly not an issue. To me, the problem almost has to be mechanical but I don't have much confidence in Lee May Jr's ability to figure it out.

Marcus Wilson with another solid game. With the mechanical swing adjustment appearing to stick he's becoming very intriguing. If he can maintain his hot hitting he could make three really good CF prospects in the system.

Yeah, I wonder too, when recently Marcus Wilson dropped down to Salem after struggling terribly, they “immediately identified an issue with his swing,” he got red-hot, promoted and has continued to hit. That Duran is showing similar struggles on arriving in Portland after absolutely *raking* in Salem (and everywhere else professionally) should maybe raise some eyebrows.

I think we gave up 8 yearned runs tonight (not counting Dominican league). We have to work on some defense!

McGrath has now gone 30 innings since allowing an earned run. I have never seen him pitch but recall that he has an upper 80s FB. In my mind he is another Brian Johnson....altho I am willing to be dissuaded.

That's our best pitching coach and he's not usually shy in interviews.

I try to avoid being insulting as much as possible so I'm not psyched about how close this is coming to that, but this reaaaaaally plays as pot calling the kettle black here when you say James is overreacting. You're easily the most overreactive person I've ever seen on this board. Citing your concerns about Duran every time he has a bad night is not a great look as James said, especially when you're not really backing it up with any stats. Criticizing a guy for getting a day off is an entirely new level. On top of that, every time Dalbec hits a home run you make the same exact post about how he's a potential middle of the order hitter, or how Mata is a top of the rotation starter every time he doesn't get shelled. At this point, we all understand where you are at with those players but if you just keep repeating the same thing every time without ever backing it up with any sort of argument, not only is no one going to take your word to be true but it's just going to get annoying. edit: People have said some pretty uncool stuff about Nunez that I didn't agree with from time to time, but no one has ever been outright negative about Dalbec here. I've definitely tried to bring you back down to earth on him because you think he's way better than he actually is, but I acknowledge he's got legitimately exciting tools so that's more realistic than negative, so that argument is a strawman.

Has Cottam been playing first a lot this season, or is this a new development? It's certainly the first time it's caught my eye.
