You know a slash means "or" right? Meaning global news OR politics are no longer welcome on the board. As in, if the powers that be reverses course and now allows this type of trash on their board, then I will never return/donate to the site again. You do know that global is an adjective right ? global news or global politics. Why do you think you need to read every thread in the off topic forum ? Would you feel that way if you didn't like modern music ?, we also have a music thread. I don't follow other sports anymore so I don't read the other sports threads but I don't care if you do.

I think this is tucked away in a corner in a way it is easily avoided, but I’d be totally unbothered if mods erased my contributions. I do not like silliness to go unchallenged, but I love this site for Sox news. Will abide by any restrictions beyond that without complaint.

I'm not arguing with you about this. Chris' post was very clear that politics are no longer allowed on this board thanks in large part to your posting habits. If he wants to come in here and say otherwise I will defer to him, and be gone from the site.
And thanks for the recommendation on the music thread. As long as politics stay out of the board I'll be happy to check it out.
(Obviously not directed at you Manfred)

From my viewpoint, that's a shame because I enjoy reading other peoples viewpoints even if I don't agree with them. I don't believe any of their opinions are stupid and pretty much everyone has valid points of view including you. This thread has contributions from a fairly large number of people.

I guess some people just want to complain about everything. Like you don't have to click on and read an off-topic discussion on Politics. I'd fully agree if it was mixed in with a baseball thread, but its not!
Given what's going on in this Country a good civil discussion about Politics is needed and frankly more important than maybe anytime in my lifetime. I take Chris to be pointing out he doesn't want "Global Politics" because the Philippines thread got kinda crazy and he didn't want another one of those. If he means zero politics, that would be a shame but ok I'm sure they'll let us know. Yet it's crazy how some people overreact to a sub forum discussion that they don't have to even have read. Like don't click on it and you get zero politics, crazy simple.

“Government of the people, by the people, for the people.” — the founder of the GOP. People act like politicians are hatched in eggs. They are us. And generally, we get what we deserve.

If there's anything that I've learned over the last 20 years is that the individual has died and everyone is lazily defined by the actions of the groups they're put into. It's such garbage. And this is why I f'ing hate politics. There is no honest debate, and the people debating it don't even realize how clueless they are about it. They're just repeating mantras about people in boxes that they don't even belong in. I'm not singling only you out, it's also for philsbosoxfan or for anyone who argues partisan politics at all. I mean how f'ing stupid is it when I put it like this. "Oh you voted for X, so I know everything about you." That's what 90% of people believe now. I wish we could get a new Sun Tzu book for the present day Art of War. Because it's being played out brilliantly and just about everyone is falling for all of the tactics. The whole damn world has been divided and now we're all conquered, wasting time arguing with each other so that no one blames the collective assholes running the world no matter what party they belong to.That book exists, and more people should know about it so they can protect themselves against divide-and-conquer tactics, which to me are morally repugnant. It’s called Rules for Radicals, written by Saul Alinsky. These ideas were adopted on a wide scale by left-wing activists in the 80s, though by now they dominate the political discourse on both sides. Here’s a summary (no affiliation with the website): www.citizenshandbook.org/rules.html

Looks like we've got off topic here and frankly we don't think it's necessary to have a politics-centric thread on the forum (especially when it has nothing to do with baseball). As such, we are going to lock this thread.
