Not gonna lie, I get excited about them Denyi Reyes starts. Sox starting pitchers depth is going to be really good next year with him and Mata stached in AAA. Au revoir to the days where we start the likes of Weber, Velazquez and Weber lol

Now I’m really wondering if something has changed

He needs to be Houck'd and just let him do his original thing

He needs to be Houck'd and just let him do his original thing I can not see that he is doing anything different from college. In college when he threw a meatball, he could get away with it. In double aa, meatballs get hit, and hit hard. His ability to adjust, will dictate his future. I would like to see him experiment with a cutter and use the slider less.

I haven't seen him for a few recent games but when I've seen him, that's exactly what he's doing, using the slider less, much less. For his FB, he's been sitting around 94-95, less than college but not all that bad. To me, his biggest problem has been command or as you put it, meatballs although meatballs might be a slight exaggeration of what is happening, more like hittable pitches by missing the catcher's glove.

The Red Sox have talked freely about how he was a low fastball and slider pitcher in college and they are making him be a high fastball pitcher with a different breaking ball.

This is what you see when you watch him. Still has the violent motion though. ADD: I didn't know that he threw low in the zone at college but he definitely works in the upper half now.

I just saw that Bobby Bombs played 1st base in this game. If anyone saw the game, how did he look? Is there any significance for this September?(That's if he's still a Sox prospect)

Is there any significance for this September?(That's if he's still a Sox prospect) He made a nice leaping snare of a sharp line drive, but also whiffed on a hard-hit grounder that unfortunately rolled into the RF corner allowing two runs to score early. In other news, the home plate netting at Hadlock has enough give to it that a Durbin Feltman pitch in the dirt that evades the catcher and comes up at just the right angle can actually hit someone sitting in the front row in the knee. Don't ask me how I know this. (Ow.)

Dalbec has played 1B occasionally since the AFL last year. Not really a new thing. He's got 12 games there this year (9 starts) after playing 3 of his 17 AFL games there. Got a couple last year too.

Does anyone that has got extensive looks at Dalbec's game think it would translate to RF? One or both of Mookie/JBJ are not likely to be on the Red Sox in a year or so. Might be the best place to try him out IMO.

IMO I think for the Sox to field a championship caliber team they need GG defense in RF (Drew, Victorino, Mookie) so I would be reluctant to put him their even if he has a cannon for an arm. I believe that an avg 3rd baseman would make an above average 1st baseman defensively and it's where I'll put him.

Dalbec is huge. No way he can play RF for the Red Sox.
