Looks like Mike Antonellis will have a week calling the PawSox (with Josh Maurer), and Melanie Newman will be up from Salem calling the Sea Dogs. (Promotions are good, but I hope no broadcasters get traded!)

Had to chime in early. Jorge Rodriguez, a very "stylish" 5'11", 170lb, 18 yr old lefty has 9 strikeouts thru 4. I saw him last week when charts had him at 90-92 FB....Good control, liquid smooth delivery and a nice biting curve that he throws strikes with.
Rijo made a nice play at 3rd coming hard in on a chopper that he had to pick on a short hop...do or die. Teammates appreciated the play yelling "Rijo, Rijo".
Lugo got a stand-up triple when his hard opposite field liner went by the RFer who hesitated a bit then tried a shoestring. The ball bounced past him a la Clint Frazier.
Rafaela has a very strong arm at SS. In warmups he fields the ball at the he deep edge and has a smooth throwing motion.
EDIT: 12 Strikeouts thru 5!!! The 25 fans here gave him a big ovation.

Did you see Joe Castiglione in the stands last week? He said during the Tampa Bay broadcast that he went to watch the GCL team play and mentioned Rodriguez and Bakst who he knew came from Stanford.

I screwed up trying to Edit earlier but what tried to say was that Rodriguez pitched the best game that I have ever witnessed over many years watching the Sox here.
Other notes.
Lugo has 3 hits, 2 hard hit and a dunk. Rafaela stung a hard shot to left center.
I was fortunate to meet Troy Sutherland who came down from Orlando to visit with his son, Casey, who is on the team. Troy's dad, Steve, was also at the game. It was fun talking with them and hearing great stories of Casey's triumphs.

There's too freaking many Jorge Rodriguezes! Outside of one bad game, he has given up 3 earned runs in 28 innings and 0 in 4 of his starts.

De La Guerra hit his 11th home run. Now OPSing .983 on the season.

I was going to say that Kole Cottam is the best catcher prospect in the system, but the only catcher ranked higher than him is a whopping one spot higher, so not the hottest take in the world. My maybe hot take is that he's the most under-ranked prospect right now.

They have certainly got some interesting bats behind the plate in the low minors. Diaz/Groshans/Cottam can all swing it
Just need one of them to become a good receiver

Cottam's HR was an inside-the-parker

I don't know much about him except that he appears to be a late IFA signing (He's 21, signed as a 20 year old) but Oscar Rangel is batting .382/.500/.500/1.000 after 11 games in the GCL.
I also wouldn't overlook either of the Marrero catchers.

Not getting great reports on Groshans' defense, and Cottam is already starting to get time at first base after similar reports, fwiw.

When talking with Casey Sutherland's father, Troy, at yesterday's game, he commented that Rangel has an extremely strong and accurate throwing arm. Would be base stealers are gunned down ... no chance. Troy was quite an athlete in his day so his observations have merit. Rangel also looked good at the plate...a left handed hitter with some 'heft'. I should have mentioned this but my hands got so sweaty at game I gave up typing.

FWIW, hammerhead and I were both impressed with Lowell's Jonathan Diaz in our one game look in Norwich, hitting, throwing and receiving. Appreciate all of Chris's input.
