I like the win yesterday..... but KC is not good. A win is a win but I would really like a good spanking to ignite our guys and get them having fun again.

Go Sox.
My biggest problem with O'Brien is his refusal to use any of the currently accepted measures of good performance. With pitchers it's wins. With hitters it's BA and rbi.

Well, he's no analyst, that's for sure. It's not like Jerry or Eck picks him up in that regard. It's like the Red Sox want fans to be perpetually uninformed. At least they finally mention statcast data. It's sad that Jessica Mendoza knows about 10 times as much as any of them do about advanced stats.

I keep looking for the ⤵ button 👎 for the nabobs of negativity. You're never as bad as it seems when you're losing.
Edit: Last night Attendance: 33,636, plenty of fans still believe

At least they finally mention statcast data. It's sad that Jessica Mendoza knows about 10 times as much as any of them do about advanced stats. This is what drives me nuts. If you're just a fan then whatever - I don't expect everyone who watches the games to parse the fine points of distinction between wOBA and wRC+. But I trust that most people here, whatever your occupations, try to be good at your jobs, right? Like if there's some new method or metric that would help you be better at what you'd do, you'd go with that? And if your job is to inform your audience about baseball, you have an obligation to at least understand the metrics by which teams themselves analyze the game, don't you? Listening to the Boston announcers you'd think it was impossible. But plenty of other broadcast teams do it. Of crews I've listened to this season, the White Sox announcers were really outstanding. Not only did they incorporate some sophisticated statistical analysis, they actually knew a thing or two about the Red Sox players - who was hot, who wasn't, how they had been rated as prospects, what pitches they were vulnerable against, etc. And by the way, you can do the "sophisticated statistical analysis" without sounding like a wonk - for instance, you can talk about how the new outfielder defensive stats rate jump time and routes without sounding like a computer algorithm come to life. Again, there are broadcast teams out there that do it. So "the audience won't understand it" is no excuse. And but lastly, I don't get the line about Mendoa. She... understands stats pretty well. Compare them to the Fox announcers if you want to make them sound bad.

Shaughnessy has written that Dombrowski may take the hit for this year's failure. In the article he claims that DD has become more withdrawn amd only hangs out with cronies. No other friends in Fenway. Says he'll take hit for Eovaldi and Sale contracts and failure of bullpen. He predicts that Romero will be successor.

I am glad with the win. it could be a springboard to get them going in the right direction. I know that KC is a bad team, but any win at this point is a positive. We had a good starting pitching performance and hopefully that will continue throughout this homestand. They have to start somewhere and last night was encouraging. I am not foolish to think they could go the other way also because we have seen it numerous times this year. Lets just hope that last night was the start of something bigger.

I was just wondering how the Dodgers approached this season. they have not skipped a beat this year and if memory serves me correct, they were in it until the end last year. I guess you could point to the slow walking in spring training to be a big part f the failures this year, but I don't know. Cora has failed, Dombrowski has failed or maybe its just karma this year...Who knows?

If Dombrowski is let go I would hire the #2 and #3 guys as President and GM respectively and let them go to work.

She's almost tolerable at times. But at least she tries at advanced stats.

Urias was the perfect option to use a few times and they didn't. I'm sure champs can remember the exact scenario.

No other friends in Fenway. Says he'll take hit for Eovaldi and Sale contracts and failure of bullpen. He predicts that Romero will be successor. My complete and utter disdain for Shughnessy aside, how is this year DD's fault? This team is built to win, that's to DD's credit. Underperformance usually gets the head coach fired, or at the very least the support staff. You could make a case that the "let's just go with everyone from last season" approach was not ideal, especially re: Pearce and Eovaldi. And Nunez was allowed to stick around at least a month too long. But the team is, what, 178-102 with a WS since the start of last season? It would be incredibly reactive to bail on him just because of this season. Though the main thing to say is that Shaughnessy is a moldy old sock of a man and should be ignored. And probably fired from his job, at which he is terrible.

Part of Shaughnessy's argument is that dombrowsk only has one year to go on his contract and that Henry at 1 time said he wouldn't want GM with in a lame duck year.
We all agree on Shaughnessy credibilty.

From now on I'm just going to watch the Sox in passing. There are better things on TV. Without good pitching they are going no where. It's time we face it. Our two best pitchers last year have done nothing this year. Sale, Evoldi...nothing. And we're stuck with them for years. No minor league pitchers ready to step in. Trade deadline past. So, forget this year and hope DD does something smart for next year. The bullpen is no great shakes, but when you throw in your starters can't pitch 5 decent innings, the pressure is just too much. The offence has been good for the most part, but when your pitchers put you in a hole early on, there's often too much to overcome. So, wait 'till next year, as the saying goes. It won't get any better this year. HAHAHA>

Benni seems like a guy that wants to be in Boston and would take a discount and sign early like X. I love those kind of guys. I bet Devers would as well. Those are the type of players I want on my team.
