I guess it comes down to what they can get for JBJ in a trade vs Castillo for half a season or so.
If they don't get much for a year of JBJ, then I'd prefer they just ride out 2020 with JBJ.
I'm not a big fan of Castillo. He'll be 32 next season and hasn't exactly beat up AAA pitching. If Castillo is the CF next season, then you're really hoping/praying that Duran makes a quick ascent through Portland and Pawtucket and is ready by July at the worst.

Very hard to imaging this team being only 4 games over with all the talent. But this is what it is. 30-12 gets them 92. It may be a pipe dream, but it is my pipe dream and I am sticking with it. How about saving that 30-12 until 2020 when it can matter? 30-12 probably won't get them into the playoffs this year anyways. Their pitching won't allow that to happen anyways. Not with Porcello and Cashner going every 5th day and their bullpen being what it is (and lack of clutch hitting). It's ok. Here's hoping they have a big rebound in 2020. Champs....our goals must not change in the face of adversity. Our honor depends on it

JBJ is a tough call. He likely won't be worth what he'll be paid next year, yet I don't see a team giving us anything for him in the off-season.
Might be best to bring him back and see if someone needs him at next years deadline. After 5 years, though, it is painful watching his at bats

Castillo is the 4th outfielder the Red Sox have been missing. Playing JDM in RF in Fenway makes me cringe.

It was always pretty sketchy but with age and injury creeping in, it's really getting to be indefensible.

As long as the Yankees don't win the World Series, the season was successful enough.

I will be believing till the math says otherwise, just the way I am a about our baseball team. Damn straight on the MFY.....I will be leading the anti MFY brigade come playoff time.

Due to his minimal service time, won't we still control Castillo at the league minimum in 2021 after his current deal ends? Seems more likely he could get a shot then. Castillo will most likely added in September next year, due to his salary.
