It almost feels like he and Gonzalez are competing for that franchise record....back and forth...

Antoni Flores needs to start making more contact. Yes he’s very young for the league and definitely a promising prospect, but bit of a disappointing season now batting .196
Sox gave 3 million to both Flores and Diaz combined

Yes he’s very young for the league and definitely a promising prospect, but bit of a disappointing season now batting .196 Sox gave 3 million to both Flores and Diaz combined Flores K rate is 23%, not bad at all for a kid his age in the NYP. Contact has nothing to do with average. His BABIP is just .276 He also has 20 BB's vs 36K's. That's pretty nice ratio. How many times have you seen him play? You've complained about some of the high bonus kids in the past too. Some will pan out some won't Some will improve a ton from where they're at. Some have been challenged with placement more than other. Give these a kids a little time!

Anybody have eyes on Shugart today? He's been pulled and called to Boston to take Cashner's spot. He's clearly better, based on, ya know, his stats.

The only guy I can think of on Lowell that might apply to would be Zeferjahn?

Antoni Flores needs to start making more contact. Yes he’s very young for the league and definitely a promising prospect, but bit of a disappointing season now batting .196 Sox gave 3 million to both Flores and Diaz combined As Iakovos said, it's demonstrably wrong to say that Flores isn't making enough contact. His average on balls in play is almost equal to his line drive percentage. Minor league BIP numbers are pretty unreliable, but Flores does have one of the highest LD% marks on the team. Typically, the rule of thumb I've read is take the LD% and add .12 to get the expected BABIP. Even giving a lot of room for error, this indicates that Flores is getting horribly unlucky.

I noticed his walk rate is almost 10% too. He whiffs a lot (but too much), but he could develop really nicely as a hitter. Power seems legit: 14 doubles, too.

What’s the deal with YPA? CC guy, a little behind age-wise but not badly, and barring tonight’s clunker he’s been excellent. The walk and K rates look terrific. He struggled some in Greenville but not horribly, which was probably an age-appropriate is slightly aggressive placement. Is he really a “guy?” Anyone seen him pitch? Reports/opinions on velo and “stuff” or mix. I’ve kind of ignored him due to age and the Greenville demotion, but I think it’s time to maybe buy in again a little bit.
