These games are so frustrating... the bullpen works so hard to keep it close, but these are what have devoured the staff this season. It would have been nice if the bullpen put up these 0's earlier in the season. 'Regression to the mean' can definitely be fickle.

Yuck transfers to the offense. Youk....your use of the work Yuck...which is very similiar to Youk.....is the secret door to the comeback victory that is about to happen.

something tells me this is going to be a lonely place the rest of the year....especially if we fall totally out of it quickly. There is an echo in here tonight!

Well, that is a horrible decision by Xander. WTF? So many instances this season of various team members playing with their heads up their ass....inexcusable

At some point (and the point is really now), that is really all we can do. Lots of keystone kops moments this year.

Well on the bright side, Xander would have been doubled off on that lineout anyway.

as infuriating a loss as you can have despite our WC deficit; many bad at bats and bad decisions. and cleveland lost and TB down by 3 in the ninth.

On the bright side, Rays and Indians lost. Problem with being a million games behind Cleveland and the Rays? You're also behind Oakland who is winning.

We are simply not at all deserving of a playoff spot this year. The three pieces- starters, relievers, offense - just can't get coordinated often enough.

I just hope that the dang starting pitchers can stop spotting the team 2 or 3 freakin runs every GD game.

That's the 2019 Red Sox in a nutshell. The good thing is they're so far gone it's really hard to get worked up about them losing yet another one of these types of games where they can't get the big hit or make a dumb baserunning play. One of their best hitters, JDM, has been awful in the clutch. Ultimately it really doesn't matter. They're not good enough to catch both Oakland and TB and even if they were, how long would they last in the playoffs? Is it better to have the Yankees celebrating at your expense (assuming they'd get past the Wild Card game which is a dubious assumption) or simply not going to the playoffs altogether? The way the Sox are this year, I'm fine with them not making the playoffs - at this point I have to be - that's the reality of the situation. I'm thankful for last year and thankful my kid will remember them climbing out of a 6-0 hole in the first game he ever attended - he asked me if that's the biggest comeback they ever had.

I feel like a lot of guys on this team are pressing. They know they're underperforming in the win column, and they're trying too hard to make something good happen. Expanding the strikezone and swinging at bad pitches with runners in scoring position, running when it's not necessary or smart... It's easier to forgive a guy for trying too hard than it is for not trying hard enough, but either one leads to bad results.
It's unfortunate.

Not gonna win many games scoring 2 runs. Great job by the pen keeping us in it.
