They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Well, late baseball for we on the east coast.
With 33 games remaining, ESPN has us at a 1.7% chance for the postseason, Baseball Reference 2.3%, Fangraphs 3.6%, and 538 2%. But it's not zero yet.
San Diego means listening to Don Orsillo, which I just may do. Loved listening to him when he did our broadcasts.
Aside from hoping for a miracle, things I will be watching...
Do they keep playing hard or increasingly just mail it in? Final stats/remaining performances from Raffi, Mookie, Xander, CVaz, ERod and Workman Cora's use of Marco and other hints of "the future" of the team vs those likely to be used in trades.
Who comes up from Pawtucket/elsewhere when the rosters expand...and if it even matters this year, given the candidates

PRO CAREER OPS, SH/PA
Paddock .230, 10% Lamet .220, 6% Lucchesi, .190, 5%
ERod .000 Eovaldi .250, 9% Johnson, .875 OPS in 500 PA as college DH
Johnson was the 2-way player of year in college. The others can't hit and, at first glance, can't bunt well.

I swear, I will never get over him ending Pedroia's career. And MLB never even cared.

I actually dislike him more than any baseball player including Yankees. That is remarkable considering how many Yankee players I dislike and how intensely I dislike them.
He is immature. He doesn't hustle. He has injured or attempted to injure multiple opponents. He is a loathsome athlete.

On the other hand, Chris Sale already won a World Series by striking him out so hard that he fell over. If those years watching wrestling taught me anything it's that once you beat someone that decisively you don't start a feud with them again.

So, who thinks the clutch hitting failures are just random? Here is a by-inning breakdown of wOBA with the tying or go-ahead run on base, beginning on May 1. Inn PA wOBA Rnk 1 116 .382 10 2 104 .323 13 3 82 .410 8 4 58 .343 12 5 47 .509 1 6 43 .352 13 7 25 .210 26 8 40 .275 20 9 48 .250 24 x 38 .229 27 The odds of the 7th inning+ numbers being that different (better or worse) from innings 1 through 6, in a random simulation, are 1 in 462.
Here's the split with more detail. Keep in mind that a big part of wOBA-xwOBA ("Karma") is skill, specifically, pulling the ball (or hitting it hard the other way, if you're Rafael Devers) rather than to CF. Inn PA xwOBA Rnk wOBA Rnk Karma Rank 1-6 450 .333 9 .379 4 3 7-9 151 .282 20 .245 27 29 As I typed this up I realized I could get individual breakdowns by player, and also look to see if things have gotten any better recently (and also, exactly when they started). How unusual was Holt's walk-off?

Today's Yankees actually seem rather enjoyable outside of laundry, unfortunately. Ant particular reason for the animosity?

Unusual to give the IBB to Travis to pitch to the Brockstar.
The Brockstar: You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him.

The problem started April 21. Before Holt's 2B, they were 2/24, BB, 2 2B in August. Player PA wOBA Sam Travis 2 1.055 Marco Hernandez 5 .528 Xander Bogaerts 17 .392 Michael Chavis 15 .359 Jackie Bradley 11 .354

Benny is 1/16, BB, GDP. Carita is 2/17, GDP. And one of the singles was on 4/27.

In times like this I ask what would Kane do and he would chokeslam him and send him straight to hell

Don't be the "I focused on this feud too long and lost to Billy Gunn" of baseball.

Kane has taken political office now and xpac tore his butt open, so ultimately who is the real winner in the grand scheme of things? Kane/throwing at machado IM A BARBARIAN (although you’re right about that K, it was perfect)

Not me...as one who has listened to or watched nearly every game this season, it is very obvious, and your stats confirm what I've been seeing, and Cora has been talking about it all year too.

It was good to see the Ultimate Warrior got a 2nd career in baseball under the pseudo name Johnny Gomes.

TB, CLE are already romping.
Bills on CBS. Josh Allen is not the QB of the future. More futility

Lions season is over. Tough division
JBJ sits vs RHP. No DH
The eliminated teams seem to get swept by the pennant race teams, every night. Both leagues.

Really wish they'd implement a loss penalty where if you lose between x-amount of games, you lose a pick, lose even more, you lose more picks. Force these garbage teams to put out a somewhat competent team each night.
