The weird 3:36 start time in Winston-Salem is in honor of the NW North Carolina area code. These are the minor league promotions I crave.

Duran has wheels. Catcher blocked one in dirt....landed I. Front of him not too far away.....He got a late start and took off....second stolen base... impressive.
Took 3rd on a ball hit in.front of him at shirt....no throw

Something about making them think twice about hitting up the middle. I always thought “isn’t that their job?”

As a younger lad, I used to have a baseball fantasy of getting brushed back by a pitch then digging in and "spinning the pitchers lid" with one up the middle (idea felt even better than hitting a bomb). Alas, it never came true.

Great pitching matchup at Fluor tonight, sadly I won't make this one. Looks like it lived up to its billing too - one earned run in 10 innings between the two of them.

Looks like it lived up to its billing too - one earned run in 10 innings between the two of them. 4th solid outing in a row for Bello. 4th 0 R outing in a row for Zeferjahn. 11IP 6H 3BB 14K. Ian Cundall Ian CundallRHP Ryan Zeferjahn threw three shutout innings for Lowell tonight allowing two hits and striking out three. FB 93-96 T97 with late life. Kept ball down, lot of weak contact. SL 85-87 best secondary. Flash plus w/depth and bite. Also mixed in CB 77-80 & CH 83-84. Impressive start.

It's not like hitting a pitcher in his pitching arm with a line drive is a repeatable skill. Bruce "Buster" Kison hitting Albert bell for diving over the plate, then Bell charging the mound and a dustup following. Tippy Martinez, hitting George Scott, then Boomer chasing Martinez into the O's dugout afterwards when Scott crowded the plate. Jeter, diving over the plate every AB he ever had.. I've always said home plate belongs to the pitcher. Now batter's go out and dive over with immunity and it's wrong. The inside hard FB has become a thing of the past.

Minor note. After seeing Alex Scherff struggle in his first two years of pro ball as a starter, I hope they bring him to camp next year full-time as a reliever. That's his best path to succeeding at this point.

He threw a seed to 3rd on a bluff from runner on flyball. Lack of power.... probably.....but he was making solid contact. He looks the part....seems like he could add weight. I was amazed....he ran like the wind.

What does that have to do with getting revenge for a batter hitting a line drive at a pitcher as if he can aim it?
