They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

It will be the MLB debut for Garcia who was very, very good with Hartford and struggled badly in the PCL (where the league is scoring like six runs per nine innings).

The PCL is such a disaster I would probably only give a real prospect a couple starts there just to get used to the ball. So pretty much what the Rox are doing with Garcia, except I would have had him start even fewer games there. Leave them there long enough and there’s a good chance you’ll see their confidence tank
What a bloodbath of a league for pitchers

Porcello in Colorado sounds about as good as a root canal.

Wonder if JBJ is finding himself a new home in Colorado? Seems like it would be a great place for him. Just connect and the ball will carry.

According to the Rockies announcers, Bradley's HR was the 7th longest in baseball this year.

Rocks announcers are really high on Hilliard. Speed and power.

A quick Google search suggested that this was the longest HR for the Red Sox in the Statcast era.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. They should look to retain Porcello for around 5 million. Maybe add IP incentives.

it was recorded at 478 feet, and i believe it as it hit way out off the third upper deck in right field.

Colorado's line up is inept 6-9, so maybe Porcello catches some breaks and gets through tonight. Yet within 5 games before September and you have a miracle chance at a wild card spot. Will be impossible without Sale though. This baseball season is a kick in the nuts.

Hilliard making his debut had 35 HRs and 22 SB at Albuquerque. He was a two way player in college.
Garcia is the rare case of a 30th round draft pick that gets a start in the majors.

The Astros are beating up on Morton and the Rays. That should be a very tough series for them, and a chance to gain some ground for us.
Btw, that Astros lineup is insane. At the time of me writing this, their lineup's first six spots tonight have guys with .900+ OPS. It's .939, .917, .940, .974, 1.093 (Yordan Alvarez, the rookie, of course), and .900. And I thought our lineup was pretty awesome...

...Is Porcello not required to run to first? I know he's a pitcher, but come on. You're an athlete. Go.

I love JBJ and want him around next year and beyond. Come at me. I like JBJ too. And if the price is right, I'd like to keep him. He's the kind of guy who is terrifying to give up on, because there's a chance that somebody like Oakland picks him up and he sorts out his inconsistency issues to become a .900+ OPS guy for a couple of years. It's not that he can't hit. It's that he's legitimately one of the most Jekyll-and-Hyde players I've ever seen offensively. EDIT: OPS, not OBP. I'm not THAT bullish on him, lol.
