I can't believe we're almost out of baseball and everyone has to play at the same time. Not one early start on a holiday weekend Saturday? We don't even gets the Mets on free TV in CT today. Btw, 660 the Fan NYC was incessant about Mets great playoff chances. Then they switched to talk of how many games Eli gets before giving way to the rookie, Jones. They decided ten. That's when I switched to WEEI

Yusniel Padron-Artiles got the start in Greenville. Over 80 pitches, still going.
Not related to Angel.

Mata let up a single to lead off the game but didn’t let up another hit for seven innings. Walked five guys (not good) and struck out nine (very good). Command issues aside, this was a great start.

What would they hope to sneakily accomplish by putting Ramirez on the TIA and reinstating Romanski from the DL?

Erasmo. To TIA, seems convenient. What would they hope to sneakily accomplish by putting Ramirez on the TIA and reinstating Romanski from the DL? Sneakily have a 26-man roster. Avoid the difficulty of doing a paper move within the rules.

Avoid the difficulty of doing a paper move within the rules. I still don't see what they gain, aside from a second backup catcher for tonight's game if anvils fall on both O. Hernandez and Centeno. Jake's been on the DL since July 1--I don't think it was a goal for the club to find a way to activate him for one day before the big club takes several players off the roster tomorrow. Ramirez has been a trooper for them this year--he pitched 5.2 last night and there's no reason to think he'd pitch again this year. I would think he had something going on and they granted a request to leave the team early for it ending the season.

Literally every organization "abuses" the hell out of the IL and TIA in the minors. Every one.

Jay Groome hit hard in first. Escaped with the bases loaded, one run charged , Outs were hit hard liners.Threw 90-93, ,Field gun didn’t record 2nd inning velocity. Rafaela looked good, defensively, at 3B.
Tigers 3B prospect, Nick Quintana, very Impressive for Connecticut. Good range and a gun for an arm. Plated first run with a hard double to LF.

Rafaela looked good, defensively, at 3B. Tigers 3B prospect, Nick Quintana, very Impressive for Connecticut. Good range and a gun for an arm. Plated first run with a hard double to LF. Sibby, come join me behind home plate next time. There are plenty of unoccupied seats. I sat two rows behind two players with a jugs guns and chart for pitchers. I didn't recognize the player holding the gun (Kelvin Sanchez) but the player charting was unmistakable, it was Noah Song. I wanted to talk with him a little without bothering him and hoped to do it while the Spinners were batting in the second. He was charting CT pitchers and told me he would talk the next half inning so I missed most of Groome's second. The juggs gun agreed with the scoreboard, having Groome (as well as Ramirez and de La Rosa) topping out at 93. The leadoff double was off a 90mph fastball that landed inches fair down the right field line. Jason got up to 93 with the fifth batter. Two line drive outs in the first, beside the hits. I thought Ramirez mixed his pitches well. His last pitch of the night was an 85 mph slider that struck out Carpenter swinging in the 7th. de La Rosa was great for four batters with his fastball 91-93 and curve 81-82. It should be noted, The Tigers lineup had only one hitter batting above .233. Both of Cedannes singles were infield hits that he just beat out. A high chop to 3rd in the fifth and a roller deep in the shortstop hole with Kreidler trying a jump throw that was late. He really looked like he was moving going from first to third on a catcher's pass ball but was sent back to second when the ball got stuck in the fence. Lugo's 7th inning single was a line drive over the pitcher and second baseman on a 91 mph fastball. Davis ended the first inning with a loud deep drive to center just short of the warning track, about 380 feet. Baldwin had a tough night behind the plate. His first throw on a stolen base attempt sailed over Flores ( but caught by Lugo backing up) and second was one that bounced into center field. The third stolen base was off the pitcher when Kreidler began running before de La Rosa delivered the pitch. He also got nicked with 3 or 4 foul tips and had to shake them off. The fan behind me thought he would quit catching after the beating he took. Bandy doubled to start the winning rally in the 7th (while I was indesposed), his second double of the game and second time I've seen him play well. When he advanced to third on a pass ball, CT played the infield in and Flores lined a fastball up the middle just out of reach of the diving shortstop.

There was a swarm of gnats behind home plate in the first two innings of the game that reminded me of the Joba Chamberlin playoff game in Cleveland. Noah was swatting furiously so I offered to help him in the battle. I told him how happy we were to have him in the organization and also thanked him for taking the discounted bonus that allowed the Sox to sign other players. He was fine with how everything played out and understood how it benefitted the organization. I told him he would make up for that small bonus in the majors.
I asked if he would be pitching Sunday or Monday and he said no, that he wasn't scheduled until the playoffs started, that Lowell was going with a 6 man rotation right now. I asked if he had any innings limit this year and he said he would continue with three or four innings but would be able to pitch throughout the playoffs.
I asked if he thought he would be playing next year after the President's directive to the armed services and he said he would wait until the next announcement to see what happens. He said the Navy has been great to him by not asking him to report at all until after the season ends. I told him we all hope he fulfills his commitment after his Cy Young career with the Sox. He said "I just want to do the right thing".
After reading everything about him and speaking with him, I said "Noah, I believe you know the Lord Jesus Christ". Noah responded "Absolutely".
Noah is an easy player to root for. A leader who positively contributes to a clubhouse atmosphere. I hope his name does not come up in any future trade discussions.

Came alone and sat in first row behind Tigers dugout.. got the gnats, too, but, overall, favorable experience. Glad to see Groome. Sorry I missed Jimenez. Lugo’s single was a line shot right up the middle. Agree on Baldwin. Davis built like Vince Wilfork but he has a good eye and a power swing. Fun time at Dodd, especially with the win.
