Is it fair to say that the Sox have accumulated a horde of exciting arms in what feels like a hurry? Groome, Mata, Song, Murphy, Zeferjahn, Houck, Ward, and of course Darwinzon.... that is a lot of promise right there. I mean, that could be 2/3 of a staff in 2-3 years.

Manfred you must be reading my mind, I add to it, Bell and Shugert also. Thats why there is a bullpen to build out of this also. Hernandez a lefty who throws hard and has swing and miss pitching. To me cost control 6 years are you kidding me? My vision is to have Houck as your righty Hernandez. Finally some real pitching on multiple levels. They can redo that whole bullpen in a couple of years.
If they want they can also pay Betts. If things break correctly. If DD is gone I hope they stay internal and promote Eddie Romero.

He’s a good guy to follow on Twitter. Especially on game days. We’ll get some good info on Groome tonight. Ian is in Lowell too. Looking forward to all the results.

Based on the Zapruder-quality photos Ian sent me, Groome has been doing nothing but cardio since last May... He's in TREMENDOUS shape.

Groome, Mata, Song, Murphy, Zeferjahn, Houck, Ward, and of course Darwinzon.... that is a lot of promise right there. I mean, that could be 2/3 of a staff in 2-3 years. You forgot Brayan Bello! I absolutely **LOVE** their draft this year for pitching. I think Bell could turn out to be a savvy pick whose command issues were mostly post-TJ. Zeferjahn has pretty much just one bad start, when he was hurt (I think it was a blister or something...don’t recall, but it was minor), and he’s looked real good. Song has basically been as advertised; I mean, he looks like a 1s/2 round pick. And friggin’ Chris Murphy using his secondaries and throwing basically an average FB for a LHSP (maybe even a smidge above)...but commanding everything. Having Groome back out there is terrific...dude was the 12th pick and in convos for 1 overall for a while. He’s got 1a/2 upside. And he’s still relatively young. He was only 17 when they picked him. He could be on-track age-wise by next fall (start in Greenville, early promotion candidate to Salem, finishing the year at 22). Mata throws absolute gas and the cutter has become a weapon. He made strides this year, finished with a great start, and is another early promotion candidate if he shoves in Portland (at just 21). Ward has hopped right into the map **and is dealing** tonight. He might even be a 3/4 instead of a 5/6. System took a pretty good leap forward this year, especially with that draft. Even my man Bello finished very strong. Might be 3-4 years before these guys all arrive/produce, but it’s a helluva collection of arms considering how the year started.

Ward with 6 shutout innings and Esplin with a HR. Curcio turning into a post season force.

The string is over but of the 12 strikeouts, 8 were swinging.
