Obviously wasn't able to have a formal gameday thread, but we can go in here. Sorry to run behind on this.

Typical JBJ luck in the 9th inning. Even when going the other way.

Taylor, Barnes and Workman all deserve saves in this game.

Edrod really has been great this year and seems to be getting better. Do we dare trying to extend him now cheaper or gun shy based off our recent pitching signings and his fragile past? Wish he would take a shorter contract with club options based on innings

We dropped the Phil's 3.5 back. With 15 to play. Big loss, as are all now.
Today vs lhp: Travis LF Benni C.F. JD RF
Owings 2B

But when you can replace JBJ's putrid 72 wRC+ against lefties with Sam Travis' phenomenal 80 wRC+ against lefties, you just have to do it. I mean what else are you gonna do, play Travis in place of Moreland and his 25 wRC+ against lefties? Don't be ridiculous.

Since April 12th, Eduardo Rodriguez has a 3.25 ERA and a 3.87 FIP.
Since May 26th: 2.89/4.09.
Since June 30th: 2.42/3.77.
Interesting that as the ERA has consistently come down, the FIP has been relatively stable.

With the Sox out of it, am I am bad fan if I can’t bring myself to watch Porcello? I like Rick, and he’s been a real solid guy overall, but at this point he’s batting practice.

I'm watching for Devers 30th HR. Xander and Devers will then be the 20th and 21st players in history with 30 HRs, 50 doubles & 100 RBI in a season. They will also become only the second set of teammates (ARoid & Edgar Martinez) with 30 HRs and 50 doubles.

He's going to have a power slump mirroring his start to the season.

Any ideas of why Benintendi has basically zero power in this juiced ball era?

Devers and the Sox return to Fenway. I see him getting a HR over the monster and another one to deep CF just because he can. Add a few more 2B off the wall and he will surpass all those goals. Why not?!!?!!

I am sometimes pessimistic but jeez the Devers prediction....that glass isn't just half empty, there is no water in it at all.

Any ideas of why Benintendi has basically zero power in this juiced ball era? His average launch angle is actually up quite a bit, which can actually be a bit of a trap for marginal power guys. Guys generate their best exit velos on line drives. If you're Aaron Judge, you don't care, because your exit velos are so high you just want to get it in the air and not worry that it's only going 115 instead of 118. Whereas if you're Benny and you average 88, adding more loft can just mean more warning track fly outs. Jose Ramirez had a little bit of this going on when he was in that awful slump. Or maybe he just hasn't been fully healthy this year, his sprint speeds have also been down more than you'd expect.

I’m not a big drinker, but I never, ever imagined my usually half full glass to be water. Maybe if exercises like this Friday’s climate repair march aren’t successful, water will become a luxury the way premium cabernets or ales are now. Then again, really, what provides more wonder than clean, cool water? Time to re-imagine my half full glass.

No pair of teammates have ever had 50 2B and 30 HR.

Good catch. I think I mixed up two lists, this one and 50 doubles, 100 RBI.
