As we reported on the podcast, the Fall Instructional League will no longer involve inter-org games, for the Red Sox at least. Instead, it'll be a camp for select players at the lower levels at which they'll get more instruction. In addition, players won't be there the whole time anymore - they'll come in and out on different schedules. The roster is available at soxprospects.com/fall-winter.htmHighlights include Stephen Scott moving to catcher, where he played some in college, and Brett Netzer and Ryan Fitzgerald getting work in the outfield. Jay Groome isn't on the roster but will be there as a rehabber.

He had a great statistical season, but as a 5-9 lefty I want to see him before I get too overly excited.

Netzer and Fitzgerald make tons of sense for work at other positions just due to the bat being their biggest strength and positional versatility being key in today's game.

Chris, you and/or Ian make it out to see these guys live, right? Ian just booked his travel. Note, though, that this rotating set of characters thing means we may miss guys. They did something to that effect last year too - certain guys were playing every day while Ian was there, but we had to rely on reports from other sources on guys who played later. As we reported on the podcast, the Fall Instructional League will no longer involve inter-org games, for the Red Sox at least. Scott was working out with the catchers in Lowell as well. Moving him to that position seems to have been the plan drafting him. Frankly, I love it. Dude can hit, and if he can catch he gets way more interesting. Fair question, though. I still remember when they had Heiker Meneses catching one year at Instructs and we were all wondering what the deal was there.

He was previously stateside, was at Instructs last year and played most of the year in the GCL, but was sent back the DSL toward the end of the season.
I sometimes have a bad habit of assuming things like that are more common knowledge than they are.

I'm a bit surprised that our Latin Program Pitcher of the Year, Munoz, isn't there.
EDIT: Just realized he's 18

In addition to Groome and Raudes, seems like other rehabbers in camp include Roldani Baldwin, Austin Maddox, and Kutter Crawford.
Alex Zapete may be up from the DSL as well.

Lotta projectability in that group, as to be expected of a bunch of teenagers

It’s been two weeks since the last post here. Has there been any news out of the instructional league?
