They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

I'm going to Thursday's game. I'm almost disappointed that E-Rod is pitching, just because he's lefty and I REALLY want to see Yaz play! I hope Mike Yastrzemski is in LF for the Giants, but with the lefty going, perhaps Bochy platoons him? I really, really hope not!

They're out of the playoffs. The best thing to happen to them for the rest of the season is the Fenway announcer introducing another Yastrzemski coming up to the plate.

The Giants also have to find a DH and don't exactly have a reserve of right-handers waiting to go, so I think you chances of seeing Yaz are good.

I hope you're both right. I mean, anybody with a soul for baseball, HAS to let Yaz bat against a lefty. There are times to platoon and there are times not to. Certainly this is the time not to.
Meanwhile, I'll be going with my dad, who hasn't been at Fenway since 1990. I'll be wearing my (Carl) Yaz shirt and cheering on (Mike) Yaz!
I'm also going to point out the World Series championship flag in CF to my dad because he's never seen one live flying at Fenway before and who knows the next time we'll see one? Nothing is guaranteed as we all too well know.
I'm also hoping Mookie is playing, just in case he's traded this offseason. I would like to see Mookie play once more.
As it, it's a good pitching matchup: E-Rod vs Bumgarner. I like Cora pitching E-Rod in Game 152. It means E-Rod would get three more starts giving him one last chance to reach 20 victories if he wins all 3 starts. I know pitching wins are not a useful analytical tool, but I still think it's kind of special to reach 20 wins, given that so few do now adays.
As an aside I did meet Denny McLain last year and I told my son - that guy is the last guy in baseball history who will ever win 30 (31) games in a season. Nobody will ever do that again, and it's doubtful anybody even comes close.

Get in some Red Sox baseball before the long, cold winter / offseason begins.

This offense has been sad the last month. Everybody except Mookie is hitting at or below mendozas.

Yaz popped out with men on 1st and 3rd in the playoff game for the last out. He was dead to me after that.

Will JBJ be wearing the Sox uni next year ? If i had to guess, no. I think the Sox will trade him.
He should have value on a 1 year deal to someone.

Even in that playoff game he had a HR and a single off Gossage in the 8th to help the Sox rally for 2 runs. Gossage beat him that last AB, but until Ortiz arrived, he was as clutch as they came.

Eovaldi another horrible contract? (I was for it). Or lack of off season?
