I still can’t get over that Machado likely cost Pedroia a spot in the Hall of Fame. He was at about 1,700 hits through 2016, and even if he were in steady decline would be around 2,100 by now. Coupled with an MVP, ROY, GGs, and his place on some legendary teams, he’d be a good case. Far tougher with the abrupt end.
Edit: or, put differently, his 7-year peak bWAR is about the average for HOF 2B, but he is pretty far short of the career average. Instead of adding to his total, he’s been negative the last two seasons.

I'm going to Thursday's game. I'm almost disappointed that E-Rod is pitching, just because he's lefty and I REALLY want to see Yaz play! I hope Mike Yastrzemski is in LF for the Giants, but with the lefty going, perhaps Bochy platoons him? I really, really hope not!
Well it's a shame that Yaz got sick and couldn't play today, but it sure looks like a beautiful day and ERod was freaking dealing. Hope you had a great time with your dad.
