The intent here is non political. The intent is to show what can happen when people work together. The story.... About a year and a half ago, when Duterte shut down the largest resort island in the Philippines, Boracay, because the luxury hotels on the island were just dumping their raw sewage (toilet water) into the ocean his press statement was "This may not look like it but it's far worse than Manila Bay." Environmental activists seized the opportunity and rallied upwards of 10,000 volunteers to clean up the bay and sort the recyclables. They then contracted recycling companies to properly dispose of the garbage in trade for the recyclables. I haven't been to Manila Bay since the cleanup but remember being astounded by how much trash was there. Reports are that the marine life is now returning. It can be done by people without government intervention. There are now ongoing smaller cleanup drives going on throughout the country.

Something I never knew:
" Is genuine leather real leather?
Genuine leather doesn't just mean that the product is made of real leather (which it is), but it also means it is the lowest quality of all products made out of real leather. ... It's made by splitting a piece of full-grain leather and sanding away any imperfections in the hide and stamping a fake grain on it.D"

I highly recommend Randall Munroe's books, "What If" and "How To," which use solid science to describe absurd scenarios accompanied by stick figure drawings. The latter book includes an awesome Q&A with Chris Hadfield (the astronaut and test pilot) about how to land a plane in increasingly ridiculous situations.

Really interesting video about Mars. Recently scientists discovered very large cave systems on Mars, so large they could hold cities. The caves could be made habitable and would shield from cosmic radiation.
