So far Verlander has been great and has only given the Yankees one chance to score and naturally the Yankees capitalized on it while the Astros blew a few great opportunities to put runs on the board. They should have scored 3 or 4 runs but instead trail 2-1. If they lose this game the Yankees can practically start printing world series tickets because there's no way Houston is taking 2 of 3 at Yankee Stadiuym. This year's Yankees aren't going to blow their chance. They got something special going. They're hot and Houston is clearly not. I really hoped Houston would be a lot better than this.

They can't go down 0-2 at home and expect to go into Yankee Stadium and do fine. I can't really enjoy this post-season unless the Yankees are dead and buried, and I don't think that's going to happen this year. Hell, even Aaron Boone is starting to figure it out. He yanked Paxton as soon as it was obvious he didn't really have it, something he didn't do in the ALDS in Games 3 and 4 last year.

Whew. Disaster averted for now. The Astros could not afford to lose that game. Thankfully Correa clocked one. Of course I missed it. By time I got downstairs to watch the bottom of the 11th, I saw Correa being interviewed. Homered on the 1st pitch of the last of the 11th inning.
Now the Astros need to take the Gerrit Cole game in NY and hopefully they can find a way to split the following two games in NY and win the pennant in Houston.

The point is moot now, but... of course the Astros could win 2 of 3 at Yankee Stadium. Suppose it were a regular season series - would there be anything even notable about the Astros taking 2 of 3 against the Yankees? Especially with Cole and Greinke starting 2 of the 3 games? The odds of the Astros doing that would be close to 50%. But the Yankees "got something special going" I guess.* *unless they lose, lilke they did today on a walk-off homer, in which case it will have turned out that the Astros had something special going all along.

Game 4 is a toss-up at best, in which case I'd go with the hometeam. The Astros are going with Urquidy. And frankly, right now, at this moment, I'd trust Tanaka over Greinke. Tanaka has been a different pitcher the last few months and Greinke, as great as he is, hasn't been a very good post-season pitcher to be kind. I wouldn't love that scenario if I were Houston and going into NY down 2 games to none.

With the problem of long games and the increasing use of relievers, I wonder if any thought has been given to shortening the warmup when a reliever takes the mound on changes during innings. They should be fully warm in the bullpen and aren’t gonna cool off on the jog in. Then limit mound warmups to 3 pitches. Would not only shave minutes off the game, but also not interrupt the flow of the game in critical moments.

Take it any way we can get it. Not happy the MFY are pitching it so well. Astros need to get it going.

Are the much maligned Washington Nationals this year's Team Of Destiny? EYHOBH Strasburg looks almost as good as Cole if he opts out. His changeup and curveball are insanely good. It's like he has 3 70 pitches. Maybe his fastball isn't a 70, but he has such great command of everything.

Robles just hit a 389 foot HR to right center field and it was in the first row. That's a much more realistic baseball stadium.
That's probably at least 20 rows deep in NY or Houston.
Ted Williams would have hit 100 HR a season if he were on the Yankees or Astros today.

Nationals starters have not allowed an earned run since the 2nd inning of Game 5 in LA. Complete domination by this rotation right now.

Complete domination by this rotation right now. 2 runs scored in 3 games isn't going to cut it for the Cardinals I don't think. Nationals pitchers have been great, but the Cardinals have also been really bad. And their offense has had problems all year. Even Goldshmidt struck out 4 times tonight but then again, he's just a barely above average hitter these days. He had a 116 wRC+ this year compared to Moreland's 112.

117 pitches. Strasburg.
MIGHT make sense, considering he is not expected to pitch for 8-10 days. But bullpen guys Guerra, Voth, Elias: too much rust to even trust.
