Has there ever been a World Series where the visiting team has won each game? Don't think so. I remember the home crowd was disappointed in the first four games of the 1986 World Series - before the home team won the next 3. I think if the Series does shift back to Houston, that it will be much tougher for Washington to win at Houston than it was in Game 1 and 2.

The Nats were as hot as can be but it looks like their streak has ended just a couple of games short of the goal.
The Nats better win Game 5 or else Houston will take it in 6.
As it is, I think the Astros will take the Series, the only question in my mind is will it be in 6 or 7 games. If they lose tomorrow at Washington, it's really hard to imagine that all 7 games would be won by the visiting team.

Sarah Langs @slangsonsports · 3h This is the 5th time that the road team has won the 1st 4 games of a World Series.
The others: 1996 1986 1923 1906
LOOKING AHEAD -- Only twice has the road team won the 1st 5 games of a WS: 1996 & 1906

Nationals kind of got BABIP'ed to death in that game. The Astros had 13 hard hit balls and 13 hits. The Nationals had 9 with 4 hits.

I give them a 50% chance to win that one. And then they're up 3-2 and obviously have a much better than 50% chance of winning the series at that point.

If they don't win they go down to Houston riding a 3 game losing streak needing to win both games in Houston. Going 2-0 to start the Series was monumental, but going 4-0 on the road in the World Series is unheard of and extremely unlikely. If the Nats win today, then it gets really interesting. Can they win one of the two games in Houston (if it gets that far?)

The Astros are the better team, the longer a series goes on, i feel the better team has the advantage.

Joe Ross is starting tonight for the Nats as Scherzer has been scratched with neck spasms and right trapezoid issues. Their hope is that he can go Game 7 if it gets that far.
Not good for the Nats unless Ross can pull an Urquidy. I think the Astros will take this series in 6.

Hard to believe they don't have a better option than Ross, but I guess you don't carry a 5th starter on the playoff roster.

Already 2-0 Astros on the 2 run HR by Alvarez. It was all there for the Nats to win the Series. Hard to believe you can lose all 3 home games. Can't imagine anything more deflating.

Ughhhh. After everything going their way for about 20 games or so, nothing is working out for the Nats. They put runners on 1st and 3rd with none out and couldn't score. And they really, really needed to after falling behind 2-0.
They're experiencing the big comedown after such a high. Hope that stops before it's too late.

Ross has pitched well since Aug 1st. Nats roster has 11 pitchers. 4 starters won’t be pitching tonight. Unlikely.
That leaves 7, with Guerra & Rodney at the end of the list. So Ross is the first of 5.
Ross Suero Rainey Hudson Doolittle ...

4-0 Astros on a 2-run HR by Correa. This game is getting away from the Nats who have not had any offense since putting up 12 runs in Game 2.

This is one of those series where talk of "momentum" really frustrates me. I'm sure there are factors, internal and external, that can result in a team playing better or worse for a period of time. But in this case, nothing happened, unless you consider Taubman getting fired a momentum-shifter for the Astros pitching staff's ability to pitch with runners in scoring position. To say the Nationals lost their momentum, you have to say why you think that they lost it. Failing a reason for that? They didn't lose momentum, they didn't have any in the first place. They just won a couple baseball games because they're a very good baseball team. Enough actual narratives exist - we don't need to shoehorn "momentum" into narratives when the momentum shifts come so easily and without a catalyst.

With the Nats, it's more of a law of averages type of thing. What was it? They won 19 of 21 or something like that? It's natural for teams to cool off when that ends. Remember the Sox going 17-1 after dropping opening day? It was followed by 3 straight losses. I think that's the kind of things that's happening with Washington. They really have only 2 hitters in that lineup that scare you, so that lineup can be more easily shut down than the Astros lineup can be.

Nats may be depending on astrology or biorhythms. Strasburg carries the national momentum in his right arm.
Run scans to find new momentums, and set automatic alerts for your unique technical criteria. As a proponent of the art-versus-science school of technical analysis, your primary focus is on the practical aspects of chart reading and how to translate the intelligence derived from charts into gambling decisions.

It isnt really meant to be definable and it doesnt have to necessarily have a trigger. Clearly, the Astros are playing better, maybe it was because their backs were against the wall. The games haven't been that close. Momentum is unseen inertia. When there is competition and you have the momentum or you don't, that can really have an effect on the outcome. But yes, the Astros clearly started hitting it better. Chirinos has has a real positive effect. Not a great hitter, IIRC..

The only kind of momentum I could even argue exists is on an individual level. Yordan Alvarez clearly is feeling a lot better about coming up to plate now than he did a few games ago. He's hitting like Papi instead of Chris Owings now.

I didn't even realize the concept. But I play tennis and golf now and if it is a competitive environment, I am.aware of when I have it or my opponent has it. It my opponent has it i am trying to get it back. happened just the other night when my opponent crushed me in the 1st set. I won.the next 2. I am the better player, but I felt his success when he was winning. i don't get how this is a novel concept, players talk about it plenty. Do you think it is real ?s
