I so desperately want Max Scherzer to get his ring. Plus, this juicy story of winning without Bryce Harper.

Cole would be pitching on "Lonborg rest". Lonborg pitched a complete game 3-hitter on th 9th. Came back on the 12th, 6-innings.
Pitch counts seem to be unavailable.

How does a mlb umpire miss that call? They let this guy work game 7? What a joke

Raise ur hand if you had Daniel Hudson trying to close out game 7 of the World Series at the beginning of the year.

Sorry if this seems like a low effort random thing you'd normally see on Twitter, but it's genuinely awesome to see two latin managers winning the WS in a row and doing that by completely breaking the latin stereotype on baseball. These aren't typical hyper macho dudes that play with passion or something, these are incredibly competent and smart men who got there by doing the job like ultimate pros.

They did it! Unbelievable. So happy for this franchise to finally win a World Series.

Contratulations to the Washington Nationals (former Montreal Expos) on winning the World Series. They so deserved it and I'm so happy for them and their fans and Expos fans if they transferred their allegiances.
The way they would always come back when it was nearing elimination time was extremely special. They were left for dead when they started out 19-31 but they went 74-38 down the stretch to dig themselves out. They shouldn't have gotten past Milwaukee in the Wild Card game down to their last 4 outs, but they did.
They were trailing the Dodgers 2-1 in games and then in Game 5 trailed 3-1 in the 7th and found a way to win. They crushed the Cardinals and then trailing 3-2 in games they won both games in Houston AGAIN! They looked dead in the 7th and then suddenly sprang to life.
It was amazing how clutch Rendon and Soto were and Eaton and Kendrick always chipped in with the big hit when they needed it. What they did would be hard to replicate again.
That's what makes these long post-season runs so special and epic. They're a story that takes on a life of its own.
Things that amazed me:
Greinke was awesome. His ability to spot pitches was amazing.
The Astros should have scored a lot more than 2 runs off Scherzer who was having trouble striking guys out and was giving up constant hard contact.
When Greinke hit the HR I assumed that Gerrit Cole would come in and pitch the rest of the game. The inning would have been clean at that point with 1 out, nobody on and the Astros up 2-1 needing just 8 more outs to win.
But then when Kendrick found the foul pole, they went to every other pitcher but Cole. There HAS to be a reason for this, but watching it, he had to be unavailable, but I don't know why. I guess we'll find out. If Hinch couldn't find the right time to put him in, he is out of his mind. I can't imagine that's the case. I mean that's like Buck Showalter refusing to use Britton but even worse!
The Astros pen stunk. Corbin was excellent. I would have kept him in for the 9th, but Hudson got them 1-2-3. I never had any inkling that the decade would close out with Daniel Hudson on the mound - the one guy I was cool with the Red Sox passing on during the trade deadline. Hah!!
And to me it's totally unimaginable that ALL 7 games of a World Series can be won by the visiting team. Think of ALL that money spent by Astros and Nats fans to attend the games and NONE of them saw their team win a freaking game. That's hard to believe. And actually that World Series streak is now 9 given that the Sox won their last two games in LA. The last time the home team won a WS game was when Max Muncy hit the walk-off HR against Eovaldi in the 18th inning!

1 other great thing. The regular season sucked, but karma was wonderful in the post-season.
The Astros closer (I was about to call him a derogatory name, but opted not to) spit the bit against the Yankees so he got no clinching glory.
Then the Yankees closer who is as terrible as the Astros closer gave up the painful walkoff HR.
Then the Astros management, the team that condoned the smarmy decision to get Osuna and then compounded that error by the loathsome way they treated the female reporters, saw their assistant GM fired before the Series and their FO showed themselves to be a disgrace, and they wound up losing the World Series to a team that was admirable in just about every way.
Have to love how it all turned out.
If the Red Sox couldn't win it, I'm glad the Nats did.

It's also worth noting: In stark contrast to the American League Championship Series closers, the guy that ended up getting the save in Game Seven of the World Series missed the start of the NLCS to be with his wife for the birth of their child and got some flak from the more regressive corners of the sports world.

I’m so pumped for the Nats. I’ve never been remotely this invested in a non-Sox team winning the WS. Like, I love baseball but it’s just usually not important as long as the series is good. But I *really* love seeing this: Scherzer, Turner, the smart move with Corbin, Strasburg going superhuman and really fulfilling his potential when it mattered most, Soto giving Bregman a taste of his own medicine, a formerly-maligned Martinez reaching the top of the mountain and inspiring a gutsy performance from a likable team, while making largely smart, calculated moves...f’in A, GO NATS!

As much as I like a lot of the ‘Stros players outside of Bregman (who’s really just kind of annoying) and Osuna, but their organizational culture is nauseating so F them. They managed to follow up a detestable trade with far more detestable behavior. I feel badly for a lot of the field personnel, because I respect guys like JV, Cole, Springer, Altuve...but I hope that organization folds for a while and the players have luck elsewhere. Luhnow’s lack of accountability on the latest showing was...enlightening. Yuck. The Nats provided quite a contrast, and I’m ecstatic they finally got there.

Forgot to mention - also making the Nationals more likable - they won it as soon as Bryce Harper was gone. Karma was quite kind in the post-season!

It's also so fitting that the team with a Little League park lost to a 336 foot home run. That one has got to hurt a lot more than normal. It's like the Bucky Dent home run for the Astros.
