Another previously unknown, ProspectsLive although the author rings some kind of deep bell for me. The list and write ups that I read look decent enough, nothing looks as egregious as some. www.prospectslive.com/lists/2019/11/14/red-sox-2020-top-30-prospects1. Casas 2. Dalbec 3. Mata 4. Groome 5. Jiminez 6. Duran 7. Song 8. Lugo 9. Ward 10. Houck 11. Chatham 12. Cannon 13. Ramirez (Aldo) 14. Zeferjahn 15. Decker 16. Howlett 17. Murphy 18. Bello 19. Wilson 20. Flores 21. Rafaela 22. Shawaryn 23. Feltman 24. Lakins 25. Bazardo 26. Diaz (Danny) 27. Rodriguez (Jorge) 28. Hart 29. Aybar 30. Ockimey Agreed, that’s most consistent with my own internal rankings, and there aren’t any Groshans/Dedgar gaffes. I especially like the live for Aldo, who’s pretty intriguing as a projectable 18-y/o who’s been adding significant velo since signing. That Lowell rotation has TONS of potential. I think Murphy’s the sleeper who breaks out Ward-style next year.

Lifshitz went to Lowell games (although nobody was there more than Ian this year), and I think we're going to be able to tell who had people or sources who were there often based on what they think of the 4 key rotation guys and Jimenez/Flores.

Is there anyone on the Sox list besides Casas that might deserve consideration on the MLB top 100.
Also This is the first time the Sox actually have a number of decent pitching prospects in a long time. Maybe this year if there good luck continues they will get consideration.

Mata and Dalbec have appeared on a couple top 100 lists. Duran made an appearance but has since dropped off. I think Groome, Jimenez, Duran, and Ward have a shot at cracking the various top 100s at some point within the next year.

There's a lot of good stuff in the ProspectsLive list. Yes, the list aligns pretty closely with this site's rankings (and probably many of our own personal lists), but I also really appreciated the amount of scouting detail in the write-ups. I don't always agree with Ralph with regards to his projections and the like, but there were a lot of interesting nuggets in there including:
- Murphy's propensity to locate his FB up in the zone at Lowell (vs. down in the zone in college) as a potential explanation for improved control numbers. It was also exciting (albeit not surprising in this system) to hear he is working on adding a cutter to his arsenal. - Bello's mechanics and the impact on his stuff. - Ward's command over control & movement issues.
Definitely a unique list w/ the amount of information there

That is one of the best scouting reports I've ever read on an outside site. I felt like I should have paid to read those reports. Ralph should send that in to a manager at Baseball Prospectus for a job.

Didn't he create the brand Polo? Doubt Baseball Prospectus could offer anywhere near to a comparable salary.

Here's how BA project their lineup in 2023, with their 2023 age in parentheses. Catcher: Christian Vazquez (32) First Base: Triston Casas (23) Second Base: Michael Chavis (27) Third Base: Rafael Devers (26) Shortstop: Xander Bogaerts (30) Left Field: Andrew Benintendi (28) Center Field: Jarren Duran (26) Right Field: Mookie Betts (30) Designated Hitter: Bobby Dalbec (28) No. 1 Starter: Chris Sale (34) No. 2 Starter: Eduardo Rodriguez (30) No. 3 Starter: Bryan Mata (24) No. 4 Starter: Thad Ward (26) No. 5 Starter: Jay Groome (24) Closer: Darwinzon Hernandez (26) That would be awesome!

Looks like everyone is the same, just in different order, except for D. Hernandez, who the SP have as a graduated prospect.

Strange that they don't have Darwinzon graduated. 80 days of service time (45 is rookie cutoff) and he's not going back down at this point. They must only use IP.

Yup, they use 30 appearances (he had 29) and 45 innings (30.1).

Alex also did a chat that is now over that you can access for free. (Maybe someone else can help me with the link).

In case folks were confused like me, I think the 16 lists are that site's 16 staffers' lists. I thought it was supposed to be an aggregate and was very confused.
I think people are going to sleep on Mata because of his struggles after being promoted to AA.

I have now read some of the replies to tweet comments and there seems to be a huge difference of opinion between the 16. For one of the players the range was between 4th on one list and iirc 28th on another list. For pretty much every response they pointed out the difference of opinion amongst their staff.

MLB Pipeline added in Liu to the Red Sox rankings at #16:
Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Slider: 55 | Splitter: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 45
Liu showed promise as a high school pitcher in Taiwan, but overuse wore him down and led him to take a two-year break from the mound. A two-way star, he played shortstop at Culture University before resuming pitching in 2019. Liu hit 98 mph with his fastball in September, led the Chinese Taipei squad to its first Asian Baseball Championship title since 2011 while claiming MVP honors at the tournament in October, then signed with the Red Sox for $750,000 in November.
Liu can overpower hitters with his four-seam fastball and his slider. His heater sits at 92-96 mph and his slider parks at 86-88. He uses a splitter as his third pitch, and he also may work on a curveball to give him a softer option.
Though Liu is on the small side for a pitcher, Boston thinks he can hold up as a starter. The athleticism that made him a prospect as a switch-hitting shortstop translates to the mound, allowing him to produce quality stuff without much effort in his delivery. He repeats his mechanics well, which could translate into solid command.

So when will SP rank him ? We might do a 12/1 update, we think. A few cleanup items to deal with - Liu, Crawford TJS, couple other things.
