With tonight’s 8pm ET deadline to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players looming, will the Red Sox agree to one-year contracts for the 2020 season with anybody today? Leon? Will there be any non tendered surprises? Hembree? Trades? JBJ?

Interesting on Bradley. I honestly came around on the idea of non-tender, and I think they'll have a hard time trading him for value at $11m. Unless someone thinks they can soften the offensive valleys.

If you want to be optimistic, you could say it's a sign that getting under the cap isn't as urgent a priority for the Sox as some have feared.

Unless someone thinks they can soften the offensive valleys. You never know. It's possible with many teams out there needing CFs that somebody will give the Red Sox something of decent value, like a back-end starter who can yoyo up and down if need be. The Diamondbacks would be a prime candidate given who is in their front office and the fact that they have a surplus of guys that would fit the description of back-end starters with options. Somebody like a Taylor Clarke perhaps? I think I read they'd like to move Marte out of CF and back into the infield. I wonder how the Sox plan on replacing JBJ if that's the case. Duran isn't ready. Rusney? No way, obviously. They'd be most likely to get a corner OF who would shift Betts to CF - if they don't trade him. Somebody cheaper than JBJ, but perhaps could provide more offense and would be a downgrade on defense.

The Padres and Athletics have agreed to a trade that’ll send infielder Jurickson Profar from Oakland to San Diego, Robert Murray reports (via Twitter).

I'm watching for if Heath Hembree gets non tendered or not. He made one appearance after the PRP injection last year. I think the Sox keep him, but it's no sure thing in my eyes.

Aguilar has been picked up by the Marlins.
Domingo Santana was not tendered a contract by the Mariners.
If/when the Sox deal away JBJ, if Santana doesn't cost too much (I suspect he will) he'd be somebody to look at. His defense isn't good, but at age 27 I'd think his best days on offense are ahead of him.

Tijuan Walker was non-tendered by Arizona. Don't know his health status as he has missed most of the past two seasons, but he might definitely be worth a look for the Red Sox.

Marlins acquire Villar from the Orioles.
And Kevin Pillar was non tendered by the Giants, meaning somebody will go after him rather than give up talent for JBJ. Fortunately more than 1 team needs a CF.

Blake Treinen non-tendered by Oakland, Kevin Gausman non-tendered by Cincinnati. Definitely some intriguing talent out there.
Oh, and old friend Travis Shaw non-tendered by the Brewers.

Definitely not a good off-season to not have any money to spend. A lot of intriguing options. Treinen tops the list. Best bullpen option out there now. Due for a bounce back season with that stuff. Also Osich and Marco are definite surprises for non tenders. Now even less depth at positions of need in the bullpen and second base.

I thought they might non-tender Hembre.
Was surprised they non-tendered Hernandez and honestly did even think of Osich.
So Osich is the first guy Bloom acquired and along with Hernandez the first guy Bloom got rid of. Easy come, easy go. No loss.
Even though the Sox could use a LH hitting 2b, I honestly don't think Hernandez is any huge loss. I don't think his OBP or SA will exceed his BA by much and his BA isn't that special.
I'd rather see Holt re-signed or the Sox go in another direction as far as lefty hitting 2b goes. This also makes Chatham's path to the majors clearer. And the Sox still have Lin who can do what Hernandez does but probably a bit better.
