I think the Dodgers made out like bandits. Got Mookie and a subsidized Price, held onto at least two of Gray, Ruiz, Gonsolin, and Downs.
The Red Sox got quality back but I wish they had gotten either a catcher or Downs back.

Mookie was traded in a freaking salary dump. Awesome. Henry just had to force half of David Price on the Dodgers.

How is that the return and the Red Sox are sending cash the Dodgers way?
For an organization with so much success over the past two decades, they continue finding ways to be a clown show.

Verdugo and Graterol for Betts and Price. The Sox couldn't get the pitcher they wanted from LA so they used Minnesota to get it. If there is another bat in there as well, that trade looks ... Well, I still hate losing Mookie. But if there's a good bat coming from LA too then it's not as bad as it could have been. Graterol is the best piece in this trade. Elite arm. Totally changes my view on the deal.

i feel like it might just be Verdugo and Graterol. a little bit off from what we were speculating on over the last few days... Verdugo, when healthy, is a good young player and Graterol is exactly what the Sox have lacked in the system for a long, long time. Do wish they could have gotten their hands on Jeter Downs and one of the Dodgers catchers, but that was more of a wish than reality. Didn't we have Kopech?...before Graterol. I was surprised with his stuff that he is not a high strikeout guy....Joe Kelly, Jr.....or too young to tell....

The only problem I have with this deal is eating half of Price’s contract. I’d prefer the dodgers just fully take that on
Verdugo and Graterol are highly talented pieces though, for instance I’d rather have graterol than Gonsolin and a couple lottery tickets

If Graterol is really just a reliever then this deal would be horrible!!! The Dodges made out like bandits.

Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow feeling better about this. But right now, I don’t feel like being reasonable. We’re losing a top three player in baseball because of front office fiscal irresponsibility, and I’m pissed.

Absolutely disgraceful return. I always try to look for the bright side for the Red Sox. But this is just terrible. Bad enough you are letting him go, but getting this garbage return is a disgrace.

Per MLB Pipeline. He was #83
Scouting grades: Fastball: 80 | Curveball: 45 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 50 | Overall: 55
Ever since signing back in August 2014, Graterol had been developed as a starting pitcher. He started to show what he was capable of during his United States debut in 2017, which came after Tommy John surgery, then really jumped on the map with a strong 2018 season in full-season ball. A move to Double-A in 2019 didn't deter him, though he was slowed with a shoulder issue. When he returned, he worked out of the bullpen, which prepared him for his big league debut, which ended with a spot on the Twins' Wild Card roster.
Graterol's fastball sits easily in the upper-90s and he can maintain it deep into his starts. As a reliever in the big leagues last year, it averaged 99 mph and topped out at 102 mph. It's a heavy, sinking fastball to boot, so not only does he miss bats with it, he generates a lot of groundball outs as well. His 88-90 mph slider can be an out pitch when he throws it hard enough, and he relied on it during his time with Minnesota and didn't use what was a slower curve. He does have a changeup, though it also was shelved in his bullpen time in 2019.

Really like Graterol but he’s thrown 40, 102 and 70 innings the past three years...also 6’1 265 is worrisome. Wish there was another piece or two coming back

it has been true pleasure to have watched Mookie come through the system and become the 2nd best player in baseball. It is a sad day. I don't know about the return, honestly i don't put enough research to care, but he was an all time great Sox player and it was a privilege watching him on our nine.
Hopefully it will be au revior....and not good bye forever.

If puking is your thing I recommend pulling up the scouting report for Allen Webster and his "hard throwing sinker"

That's kind of big for that height? I mean I know David Wells and CC Sabathia have pulled it off..

A. So far they've got two VERY GOOD (not elite) prospects for Mookie Betts who is 100% unrestricted and wants $1 more than the next highest contract and David Price who is old, annoying, has a "special elbow", and is incredibly over paid for his value. B. They weren't World Series contenders WITH them. C. They can re-sign Betts now with the cap reset. Not going to sell myself on the idea, but it's a real possibility. D. They have no talent in this system. They got some and space to acquire more the year after or extend players like Devers and E-Rod.

Definitely has to monitor the conditioning Really special arm though. Has a legit 80 on his fastball
