That's really a shame to read.

I have a dumb question, so go gentle: who pays the minor leaguers? Since minor league teams often have their own owners, is the cost shared between the team and the parent org? Does Henry pay down the whole line in the Sox org? That has no bearing on the justice issue. I’m just curious. The major league club pays the MiLB player salaries of all their affiliates.

One part of the 120 Plan is apparently having the clubs begin to pay some of the player salaries, iirc. Not sure how I feel about that one. www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-floats-proposal-that-would-eliminate-42-minor-league-teams/

A smart organization would invest in their minor league talent. Not only are you optimizing their situation and making it easier for them to succeed but I guarantee they would remember how well they were treated once it’s time for their contract to be negotiated in the majors if other franchises don’t adopt similar strategies
There really is no excuse for a big market team to not do this, just for the player development aspect alone. This way kids can focus solely on actually improving in the offseason instead of doing landscaping or working at Home Depot. Economic anxiety is a real thing that can hurt the performance of individuals. Same goes for nutrition

We will have our pick of UDFA’s, which in a 20 round draft is a little bit bigger of a deal

MLB has gone to some lengths to rationalize MiLB as a business. Baseball America has been covering all of this in great detail. The one thing they haven't approached, and probably won't till after the CBA negotiations, is rationalizing the salary structure for players. The Sox are smart to start doing that, to get ahead of the curve. This was tucked into the NCAA ruling the Supreme Court issued: Baseball America chimed in on that as well: Stay tuned...

Looks to be a little under 10k for each player in the lawsuit

It’s not enough but it’s a rare win for miLB players, as are the other recent reluctant concessions by owners belatedly realizing they need to protect their players, such as raises, housing, food, etc. A crack in the wall of baseball’s traditional and foolish lord of the manor bottom line creed.

I don't think this was about remedies for past players as much as ensuring better pay and conditions going forward. (haven't read any details yet, though)
