So it's a little hard to believe at this point, as we hoard our TP and wonder if we'll ever get to sit in a restaurant again, but a mere three weeks ago I hit the ground in Fort Myers ready for what was supposed to be Trip 1, the short visit, a long weekend. Just a chance to get my feet wet, let my cracked, bleeding hands soak up some SW FL humidity, and maybe track down a few of what suddenly seemed like an awful lot of new-to-the-system players! The big club had possession of the back fields through 11-ish, but largely in gear that showed off the Sox line of warm clothes. And it's hard to get exciting shots of guys at this level in drills in the first place. I desperately want to know what Bruce Crabbe apparently just said about The Most Interesting Base in the World. A recurring motif of the Spring Training back fields: "Where are we supposed to be next?" But the minor leaguers did start trickling out. Note to self to follow Austin Rei and his sunglasses if there's another Florida opportunity. Grateful to verify that Trenton Kemp still exists! Darel Belen (second from left) is tall. That's Jagger Rusconi at far left with the new facial hair. The infielders were doing bare hand drills. Grant Williams in focus here. Korby Batesole. Triston Casas. Brainer Bonaci. Matthew Lugo. (Go back and look at how tiny that baseball looks in Casas' hand again.)

Tough angle on the outfielders--it's better if they're not on the foul line--but I tried. Caleb Ramsey. Trenton Kemp. Cole Brannen. Tyler Dearden. Darren Fenster teaches. Iggy Suarez beams. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have stayed, but after that 5:01am flight and no breakfast I needed some lunch. But after that... into JetBlue!

Jeter steals one from Marco Hernandez. Alec Bohm wait how'd he get in here? Jeter Downs with half a gym mat in his back pocket. More Jeter. R.J. Alvarez barely keeping his eyes out of the shadow thank you. John Andreoli. (I love that late sun angle--only works before Daylight Saving springs back.) Nick Longhi. Eduardo Bazardo. Connor Wong. Matt Kent. It was a good day.

Excellent!
Favorite picture is the one of Darwinzon Hernandez. It’s fascinating to get such a great look at his fingers on the ball at the exaaaact moment he is releasing the ball. What a fantastic picture.

What a fantastic picture. Thanks! I was glad I got a good one from the side, as it's a little bit terrifying to try to shoot his warmups from the plate area.
