Odd in light of the NBA being way down. This is a surprise to me.

A question. I thought there was an inbound 3 day player hold. How did Workman appear in a game for Philadelphia ?

Alex Speier @alexspeier Once the trade deadline passes at 4 p.m., MLB's luxury tax rates will reset for 2021 based on what teams spend in 2020. So: technically the luxury tax rates *don't* reset today, but the *possibility* of rates resetting based on 2020 luxury tax payroll will exist.

If it wasn't official before, no AFL this year, now it is.

Covid sports related.
NFL TV ratings are heading towards the toilet. Too early to tell how far they will drop but Sunday night football took a 17% drop in viewership.

Viewership is just going to keep going down because they are making sports political.

Viewership is just going to keep going down because they are making sports political. Correction. The viewers are making it political. Highlighting social problems in our country is not inherently political, everyone should want to fix social problems in our country. It's not like they are promoting one party or another.

And we're going to cut that discussion there. Take it to off-topic if you want.

Since this is about restarting baseball, let me say as we reach the closing days of the Red Sox’s season, I did not think we’d get here. There were glitches (looking at you Clevinger and Plesac!), but I hand it to MLB and the players especially for taking this so seriously. As bad as the season has been for the Sox, man has it been nice to be able to watch ANY Red Sox baseball.

People will act like this is some indictment of the franchise (the Shaughnessy column writes itself...). I see it more as the on-field product was simply unwatchable as a one-year glitch. I'm not surprised at all.

The competition against the Bruins and Celtics playoff runs also likely had an impact that would suggest more of a one-year glitch.
I'm curious what their expectations are for next year. No matter the caveats, a 50%+ decline is an absolute trainwreck. They're going to need a 100% increase just to even get back to the discussion table.

I'm not surprised at all. It is sort of both: the indictment is they screwed the pooch with this team. But it probably only would have changed if they were 2018 good. This season was dismal for reasons that had nothing to do with wins and losses. No fans, Covid watch, etc. It was just really hard to care. I mean, I find it pretty hard to care about anything... a truncated season of games that look like exhibitions was not going to pull me out of the abyss.

Not sure if there is a better place for this.......
Is the Arizona Fall League playing or has it been cancelled? If they are playing are any Sox prospects participating??
