What about Brian Johnson as a comp?? Drohan might throw a bit harder altho Johnson was reported, upon signing, to hit 95 with the FB...didn't pan out....but lately noted above 90 again. Johnson has a good CB (spin rate?) and change.

That WEEI article also confirms what most of us thought, that the players agree to a number to sign at before getting picked by the team. Article says that the Sox called Drohan a few picks ahead of their pick on the clock and he accepted their number before being picked

Article says that the Sox called Drohan a few picks ahead of their pick on the clock and he accepted their number before being picked That's been known for a while now. It's not technically an agreement, but the conversation is something like asking what the player's number is before the draft, and/or calling before picking him and asking if he would sign for X number. That was why the Red Sox didn't sign Hunter Morris, their second-round pick in 2007. He said he'd sign for a number and then tried to negotiate them up after the draft, so on principle they didn't sign him.

I'm a little reluctant to post the tweet below as its from June 17th and there's still no official word on signing. That said, we may just be waiting for the Yorke signing to become official before we can make Jordan and Drohan official. All but three 1st rounders have officially signed, so fingers crossed we get news on Yorke (plus the rest) soon.

Despite how much the draft suppresses bonuses, these teams count on players not changing their number post draft. Especially now that there is a cap.
