If there is no BB this year, then does anybody know how MLB will configure the draft order in 2021? Do they simply repeat the 2020 draft order, pull names out of a hat, or what? Hogwarts Sorting Hat Well then. Gryffindor it is!

A pair of legit 2020 HS talents have recently announced new intentions to play JUCO/CC ball in 2021:

Tiedemann was a top 100 guy for both BA and MLB.

Christian Little, RHP, Christian Brothers HS (Mo.) Scouting report Committed to Vanderbilt. He has an exciting three-pitch mix with a lively fastball up to 94 mph, a solid breaking ball with good depth and a very good feel for a changeup. This is the guy I want.

If the season isn’t finished. Should be a 29 team lottery. Stros lost pick You'd need to do all 30 teams to determine later rounds though. Astros lost 1st and 2nd, yes, but you still need to know where they'd be in the 3rd round and onward.

If it's going to be by lottery it should also be a snaking draft.

If it's going to be by lottery it should also be a snaking draft. Had to look that up: A snake draft is a term commonly used in fantasy football for a draft that goes in the opposite order each round. In this type of draft the team with the last pick in the first round has the first pick in the second round and so on.Definitely....

You could also call it "boustrephedon" after the kind of writing that alternates left to right with right to left, the way you do while mowing a lawn or plowing a field with cattle; "boustrephon" = cattle-turning.

If there was ever an ideal time for a team to set itself up for an absolutely abominable season to get the top draft spot, this is it. Even if this season is played to some sort of conclusion, most people will forget about it about 10 minutes after the last pitch. It will be considered a total aberration in the history of the sport. I almost hope that somebody comes out of the gate hot and hits .400 for a 60-game season, so we can spend the next 10 years arguing how meaningless it is.
It would be absolutely worth it to suffer through a ghastly "season" this year to have a full season of some sort played, to justify a non-snaking, results-based draft that would end up with us having the top pick in each round.
The only sad thing about such an outcome for me is that, if the Sox DO find an exceptional player who plays a full career, I won't see it all. I will most likely be dead before such a player's career is complete.

Amazing how our perspective on things change as we get older isn't it towards many things.

I really wish the first round was able to trade. Just the 1st. I think I understand not the whole draft would be crazy. Some managers just cant collect talent and wait on it. Look at the Padres they had the top talent for like 3 or 4 years straight. Mangement still went out and spend money and to me I dont like the plan. But they still have a collection of minor league talent the envy of the league.
We get picked on but I bet you the Padres would give whatever to get of our titles. I believe we won two of those with our minor league talent grown from our own drafts. 2007 + 2018

Jaden Hill (RHP, LSU) is someone to keep an eye on as he could be available where the Sox pick (top 15). The pick could be higher if we don't win the majority of the 10-8 games we'll see due to lack of pitching.

Kumar Rocker discussion was merged into the existing 2021 draft thread. It wasn't so much a Rocker thread as it was a this season is doomed and I need something to look forward to, thread.

To gauge where we might draft, it's worth comparing our record as the season goes on to the drek at the bottom of the AL last year. The three worst winning percentages were Det., .292; Balt., .333; and KC, .364.
We're currently at .300, tied with the Angels, who are getting Trout back. KC is the worst in the league at .273. The Phils lead the Kumar Rocker sweepstakes at .250 (with only four games played).
So, right now we'd be out of the running to get either of the consensus top two picks, who are Kumar and his Vandy teammate Jack Leiter.

Unless I’m forgetting a duo this Leiter/Rocker combo is the best since the Cole/Bauer UCLA top of the rotation a few years back. Interesting tidbit Rockers dad is one of the more highly thought of college DL coaches out there.

Time is only on our side.
