I am somewhat surprised that BB&T in Charlotte doesn't have lighting that's considered adequate. The lighting in minor league and spring training parks, even newly upgraded lighting, is not nearly up to the standard of MLB. It's not that noticeable as a fan in person, but it is REALLY noticeable as a photographer. No light to work with in the outfield.

Its 30 home games. Maybe some playoffs. Seems like a good AAA or spring training facility could work for such a limited number of games.

Would the old Ballpark in Arlington be an option? Wikipedia says: I would think it could be unretrofitted easily enough. Now granted, they'd have to yield use of the 50,000 seat stadium to Major League Rugby, the behemoth of the American sporting scene, but apparently MLR has suspended play until 2021. Well since the AL East teams will only play other AL East teams and NL East teams I think they would prefer a location on the east coast.

Jon Heyman @jonheyman · 7h Pittsburgh’s PNC Park appears to be the current leader to host at least some Jays games this year. They’re still working on trying to avoid schedule overlap but PNC is a nice place and Pirates/MLB are amenable. Jays understandably prefer MLB Park. @longleysunsport mentioned Pitt

As cool as the Omaha idea is, it doesn't really work for this same reason.

Bob Nightengale @bnightengale · 43m The Toronto #BlueJays still are weighing their options to play their home games this season, but gorgeous PNC Park in Pittsburgh has emerged as the clear front-runner. An official decision could be made as early as today.

if they play in Pittsburgh, schedule would have to change, no ? I wonder how that will work out.

Part of the problem with retrofitting a park is it needs to be done in... (checks calendar) two days.

Its 30 home games. Maybe some playoffs. Seems like a good AAA or spring training facility could work for such a limited number of games. The problem is that MLB is a business, and literally the reason to be doing what they're doing is to play the games on TV. If a team can't play its home games on TV, there's basically zero point to the enterprise.

I would imagine there's a bit that goes into all of that: camera angles and the staging that goes into it; the adequacy of the broadband feed to MLBAM; announcers contracts; ... a lot more I'll bet.

If you broadcast a game and can't see the guys playing it, what's the point? Honestly, it's one of the reasons I have a hard time watching some minor league games. It looks like I'm watching camcorder footage from high school.

I don't know who Hazel Mae is (broadcaster for someone) but this makes sense.
Hazel Mae @thehazelmae Can confirm the Blue Jays have been told they will be calling PNC Park “home” this season per MLB source. @longleysunsport was first to suggest Pittsburgh as option.

You don't remember Hazel Mae? She worked for NESN doing the job that Austin Guerin is doing now. She was before Jenny Dell (Will Middelbrook's wife) and Tina Cervasio. I think she worked for the Sox for about 10 years - I'm pretty sure she was there working for NESN when the Sox won the Series in 04. Hazel Mae now does the same thing for Toronto.

I'm sure that the Blue Jays will be the home team in their scheduled home games, even if it's at the visiting team's park.
Also, I love that the Blue Jays basically became that friend that wants to crash at your place because you have the nicest place in your friend group. "Oh no.... we're going to have to play our home games at one of the top couple nicest parks in the game, how terrible."

The Great American Novel by Philip Roth Publication date 1973 "The novel concerns the Patriot League, a fictional American baseball league...The Port Ruppert Mundys of New Jersey lease their stadium to the United States Department of War at the beginning of the 1943 season—to be used as a soldiers' embarkation point—which forces the athletes to play as the league's first permanent road team." wikipedia

She hosted NESN Sports Desk and I think she was there about the same time that Tina Cervasio was. She definitely worked games, but I don't think that was her primary gig.

She definitely did that half hour NESN sportsdesk show but she did do some of in-game stuff. I think she'd interview players after a win on occasion. I remember her interviewing Johnny Pesky at a Red Sox HOF induction ceremony around 2005 or so and Johnny telling her that she looked "goooood".
