Can I call him “Cy” Eovaldi? Sure! I see no 2020 evidence that he isn't a contender.

I know they've been hitting JDM 2nd, even though I think he and X should be flipped, but Pillar 5th? I agree with X and JDM needing to be flipped. My beef is with Verdugo being the guy who gets platooned with Pillar. I mean, did the Red Sox really trade Mookie Betts for a platoon OF? We've seen how futile JBJ is against lefties, why can't Pillar platoon with JBJ instead? I would hope sooner or later Verdugo is an everyday player. I agree that Pillar should get most of his ABs in place of JBJ by years end. I think they want to ease Verdugo in so he's the first to sit, but I hope we'll see a bit of a carousel as far as who sits on Pillar (read: LHP) days. Today's lineup is also probably a nod to the defense of your GG CFer.

Devers got fat. I thought he turned a corner with that last year.

Was that just a Mike Andrews sighting on the fancam cutaway to break?

I’d rather see JBJ and Vertigo every day. Pillar is a place holder. I hope he gets enough time to make him a trade chip.
V. better rope against lefties and righties if he is the guy we got for Mookie.

Devers got fat. I thought he turned a corner with that last year. I just came here to post that. Definitely looks like he didn't take care of himself during the layoff. My second observation: I'm surprised MLB hasn't seized on the opportunity to place advertising over the empty seats. Third observation: It's a little jolting to see be Jim Beam ads on the field just outside the baselines. Fourth observation: But I love the MLB logo and BLM just behind the rubber.

I was very late (perhaps the last) to be sold on Devers last year. This is really worrisome, from a long term contract standpoint. Hoping he gets his act together. Kid is fun to watch.

Weird to watch an opening day game at Fenway where it's not like 38 degrees and drizzling.
I find it surprisingly compelling to watch games without fans. It's less of a big atmosphere, but there's kind of a greater intimacy with the players on the field somehow. What I don't get is why they didn't take the opportunity to get more of the sounds of the players talking on the field and in the dugout and whatnot. I always thought that was the underdeveloped aspect of sports broadcasts to begin with, and this would have been the perfect opportunity to experiment with it.

Really happy baseball is back... one thing that concerns me. Vertugo is a centerpiece in a trade for a $400 million dollar player, and we sit him on the bench?
