Glad we are carrying a million pitchers. Gonna need a bunch of them today, me thinks.

Too many noncompetitive pitches from Perez. With 15 pitchers, everyone should have an early hook to start the season. Can't dig too deep of a hole.

When the Sox signed Perez, I said he sucks, but there was the “his peripherals” defense. Well... he sucks.
And to the question what would I do if I were Bloom, I’d say not spend money on guys who make you just a smidge closer to mediocre. Either shell out on good players or let the season go. Johnson was under contract... let him go out and toss lefty garbage. Don’t bother paying for new lefty garbage.

Alex Verdugo chose to wear #99? In the American League East? C’mon, use some creativity and pick a different number.

Think they'll get to Cobb the second time through the order. Good contact so far.

Game 2 and we felt a need to rest potentially our best player? Nice.

Nobody has ever wanted a baseball as bad as Verdugo just now.

By the way, I want to say publicly, since so many are so down on him due to the circumstances of his arrival to the franchise, I will be happy to lead the Verdugo bandwagon this season. There's plenty of room. Let me know if you need a ticket.

i am sorry. this is just silly not having your best players out there in game 2. i am sure there is some logical rationale for it, but they just had a sh*tload of time off, for crying out loud.

Not a big fan of the move to rest Bogaerts. These games are too important. Regulars/non-catchers should be able to play 58-60 games.

I'm assuming it's because this season is a sprint, not a marathon. These guys won't have very many days off and just had a very limited ST. It's because they had so much time off that they don't want everyone to break down after a week of starting up.

I always thought Martin Perez was overrated even when he was an 18 years old pitching in A advanced for the Rangers.

I am assuming that they are using different players because of the day game after a night game, but with a 60 game season, I don't think that is a good strategy.

I don't really mind rotating guys out of the lineup. There was hardly a preseason. You have a 30 man roster for the next 2 weeks. Take advantage of the depth.

At a minimum, at least win the series before you start thinking about that stuff.

Credit to Perez for battling back and giving some solid innings. Nobody will praise him for giving up 5, but giving up 5 in 5 innings is a lot better than giving up 5 in 2 innings.

Yeah, if you pro-rate it a day off this season is like giving a guy 2.7 days off in a normal season. That's not to say no one should get a day off at all but, honestly, can't they handle a two-month season without wearing down?
