It's not called a pitching wheel, it's a pitching carousel.

It's not called a pitching wheel, it's a pitching carousel. Are you feeling nostalgia, an aching for a time when we had a full 5 man rotation, with a few backups on the farm?

Red Sox currently have 17 pitchers (plus the two rehabbers) in Pawtucket along with 5 catchers (someone's gotta catch them all), 5 infielders, 2 outfielders, and one utility player in Munoz. So eight non-pitcher, non-catcher players (not counting Wong, who to my knowledge is only catching).

Team reportedly granted Brian Johnson his release.
I'd have been frustrated as hell too, so can't say I blame him for asking out.

Triggs came back from a 2018 Thoracic Outlet Surgery last year.

Okay it's official Bloom is trying to mess with us. I can't see how DFA Gonslaves for a 31 year old Triggs makes any sense long-term.

Otherwise I don't get it. I don't get a lot of what's going on right now. Onto the next piece of spaghetti to throw against the wall.

I was thoroughly unimpressed. No, remember I asked for a mini scouting report? Phil did and said his stuff looked good, just command/control issues. Hopefully he clears waivers, because I'd rather hope on him in 2021 being like a Brian Johnson type depth starter over a 31 year old reliever. A guy who was never that great and is coming off major surgery. Are you saying Gonslaves doesn't have that upside?

what I said:
"Gonsalves has impressive stuff but major control issues. He walked three batters in the second and another in the third. Definitely a project pitcher that is worth keeping. Hopefully Abbott can fix him."
To me, when someone uses the term "control" as opposed to "command and control", the locations are bad to the point that things like break are irrelevant. He will likely clear waivers because he isn't getting promoted this year. He has a long way to go.
I think he had a grand total of three outs over three innings before they shut down every inning for pitch count.

Gonsalves and Shawaryn both cleared waivers. Former returns to the ATS, latter heads home. Also RJ Alvarez released, so one open spot they can play with for the trade deadline.

This is what sucks about this season. A guy like Shawaryn is hitting that crap-or-get-off-the-pot point of his career but he neither gets a try out or a minor league season to show (or improve) his stuff. Really young guys can catch up later, but it screws a guy like him. Not saying the Sox are at fault. They are subject to the same conditions. Just such a bad break.

So the 14 games in Boston last year don't count ? The ones were he pitched better than Hart currently is? In the year of the long ball versus a year where offense is down. The 14 games with one game being over 1/3 of the earned runs he allowed. The 14 games were eight of them he was better than league average ERA. It's a little weird, when he was averaging almost 13 strikeouts. You think he gets a chance.

I do as well and it's not just Shawaryn, it's pretty much any player that was already behind the development curve or any player which this was a make it or break it year.

For what it's worth, Shawaryn has another season before he's a free agent. But it's a fair point that he gets caught in the crunch a bit.
