LA's Edwin Rios became the first player in MLB history with a leadoff 2 run HR.

Wow. Royals are starting Kris Bubic tomorrow night.
Led the minors in strikeouts last year... split between Low and High A.
Aggressive as hell. Very interesting.

General MLB question: How is the runner on 2nd in extra innings determined? Is it a pinch runner or is it whoever made the final out in the previous inning? My understanding is MLB is being run by idiots.

Little Yaz with a big game, a hot start. Another story I really appreciate. I hope he can keep it up.

Foltynewicz just got dfa’ed I will be super happy if Sox get him and upset if they don’t. Add, after looking at his numbers and seeing a significant decrease in velocity and his contract number. I don’t want him as much. He cleared and was optioned (embed Jon Heyman tweet).

Diminished stuff and his salary I guess

GM's must think he's not likely to be back for a significant enough time to justify the salary. My guess, he'll be non-tendered this year for his last arbitration year.
In other news, Nick Markakis just opted back in. That means there no guarantees here on David Price.

Due to the Marlins situation, MLB is implementing stricter protocols (worded as guidelines) for off game times. I'm pretty sure the players association will want to limit what MLB can do.
MLB also rethinking the roster reductions.
Players entering the roster now can no longer accumulate a year's service time.

I was looking at Albert Pujols' Baseball Ref page just to feel something (seriously, so sad that he's just bad now) and it led me down a rabbit hole into 2003 MVP voting. Barry Bonds really had a season with 133 hits and 148 walks. Completely dumb.

Excellent pedigree, impressive (brief) minors career, ideal size. Is he on track to be a front line guy? The aggressive move is super interesting. I can imagine two opposing lines of thought: on the one hand, this is a year a midmarket team could sneak a championship, so go for it; on the other this is a year disaster could strike, so don’t start the clock. Or... third option: if disaster strikes and the season doesn’t count, you get a free look at how a prospect handles a major league lineup?

Honestly, he's a college draftee from Stanford who'd have been halfway through a year in AA. It's very possible he's ready.

Around 60% pitches for strikes, only threw 76 pitches. Not terrible considering how little experience he has in the high minors.

Marlins 2B Isan Diaz is opting out. He's one of the Marlins that hasn't tested positive.

Buster Onley said he gave the season a 5% chance of completion months age. Not looking good.
