Big two wins there. This offense still hasn't clicked yet. If the pitching can be average and the offense gets going, this season might get interesting. Please take at least one from the Yankees!

Good wins. The Mets wanted this game. They pulled out all the stops. Matz threw over 100. Familia was in there.

It does not feel like the Sox run differential is -2. Strange way to start the strangest season ever.

Good game. A good Perez makes a big difference and how I feel about the team. I hope it continues

Cavis got his first two hits:
Chris Cotillo @chriscotillo · 58m Mitch Moreland wasn't available off the bench tonight because his "legs were barking," Ron Roenicke said.

Feel like Martin Perez is a good example of the issue with a lot of these Red Sox pitchers, and that is that their roles are scaled up a couple notches too many from where they should be. If Nate Eovaldi was a number 2 or 3 he'd be awesome, but he's not an ace. If Perez were the 5th man at the back of a good rotation, I wouldn't mind him so much. Outside of that third inning I thought he did pretty well and at the very least he's a guy that can eat up some innings. But they're being forced into roles that are way beyond their pay grade so it makes them look bad. Hopefully once Sale/E-Rod are back up to speed next season and maybe another guy is added, it rounds out a little nicer, but for now it does look pretty gross.
I know I just went back to the "the pitching sucks" topic but I thought it was a semi-different view of things.
