Jen McCaffrey @jcmccaffrey · 4m Roenicke on reconsidering Weber's rotation spot: "Not really. Who do we have that we can say we're going to put in that's going to be better than Ryan?"

On the bright side, Mookie is having spectacular night at the plate and in the field.

I know it won't last, but .206/.270/.265/.535 With as many home runs as our 4 man outfield. You're actually trying to twist a positive for someone hitting .206/.270/.265/.535 making the money he's making? C'mon. OFC he'll turn it around and it is extremely early but what he is being paid vs what he is performing to is downright awful at the moment.

Well, actually, I just said he was having a spectacular night. True. Only went further when the season cane up. And... whatever he’s getting paid, it is less than JDM, JBJ, Pillar, Beni, and Verdugo combined... for same HRs.

Right now we agree that Mookie is nowhere near earning the money he is making while JBJ and Pillar are vastly outperforming him, correct? Again- granted it's way early.

Go look at the numbers of Cody Bellinger, Mike Trout, Christian Yelich, etc. so far. The offense is behind the pitching league-wide right now, and it's been one week. He'll be fine. Awful is a drastic overstatement.

Yes, Mookie gad a few bad games after switching leagues, and that is deeply meaningful. Much prefer having our 4-pack.

Awful is a drastic overstatement. It is? ? Seriously? We can say a guy had a lousy game - for example a pitcher threw a lousy game (who otherwise doesn't.). We can say a star player is in a slump -- meaning his hitting has been lousy. We have said things such as "He's lost at the plate" for a game or a few games. Yet we can't say a guy so far that is hitting 206/260/265/535 isn't hitting awful? I was responding to Manfred looking at one game this year with Mookie in which redsoxfan2 posted Mookie's numbers. So if it is okay to look at one game it should be okay to also look at 7, right? In addition, right now I'm not allowed to say that Vaz, JBJ, Pillar, and Moreland have started out terrific because some of the superstars have stunk? The pitching isn't ahead of them at this moment.

Yes, Mookie gad a few bad games after switching leagues, and that is deeply meaningful. Much prefer having our 4-pack. Two of the 4 right now are doing much, much better than Mookie. And to add to that-- at this time the Red Sox are not paying someone in the OF $30m per year to hit .206/.270/.265/.535. So that is okay as of this moment.

As far as I can see, everybody is pretty much saying the same thing except with different ways of expressing it.

Ha, well he's candid at least. Chaim would never say such a thing. 1. it has only been 2 starts for Weber 2. there is a healthy supply of starters in the system who are ready for their Sox debut. He could ask Dave Bush. Godley better pitch well today.

What happened to Gonsalves. We claimed him a week ago, he should absolutely be getting a look. Unless he’s hurt

I wonder how much guys are struggling to get up for games between the lack of fans, the phoniness of the “season,” and the good chance they don’t even finish. Not to mention the reasonable concern about getting sick. This is not a criticism.... personally, I can’t say I wouldn't be going through the motions.

I've wondered if these conditions might have different effects on different sorts of players. Maybe some lose the edge from not playing in front of a live audience? Maybe some benefit from it?

Betts has played every game. I don't think the Dodgers had any off days yet either. Why are our starters getting off days regularly?

I agree the changes could have an effect on the players. But i think they still have a lot to play for and there is a 50 million dollar playoff pool and a ring. They probably really want to be out there, for the most part.
