It sure has been a long time since Spring Training, and even since I thought I would post threads for the five days I was in Fort Myers (I will go back to those, honest!). But now that the sim games are getting a bit longer, I made a trip down to Pawtucket to check in on the Sox reserves in an eerily empty McCoy Stadium. (Note for the record: media are temperature-checked on the way in, must attest to a lack of symptoms, receive a handful of hand sanitizer, must wear masks, must social distance, can't be at field level. I was very happy with the precautions being taken.) And the excitement was palpable! Josh Taylor was warming in the pen as I made my way in. Josh Ockimey pondered the tool of his trade. I do love Brian Johnson in a towel. Tiny water bottles were a COVID-19 safeguard. Pleased to see Jock Ock observing mask etiquette. (Dalbec did have a mask, I just didn't get a clear shot when they both had 'em.) Johnson pitching.

Jeter Downs. R.J. Alvarez. Jarren Duran. More Johnson. I put them on Twitter, but Duran did a handstand and then walked on his hands between innings. An interesting feature of sim games for a team with two real outfielders is that the CF sometimes just stays there. Robinson Leyer. César Puello made some nice catches, including this one robbing CJ Chatham of a double.

Excellent stuff as always. Know that we appreciate your talent. My three favorites are (in order)
Alvarez First one of Leyer First one of Puello
I hadn’t really thought about it until now but I’m mostly defining “favorite” as “compelling”. When the photo makes me want to keep looking at it a bit longer to really observe small details...that’s a photograph I like.
More please.
