They may not forget, but you can bet that there will be fans of 29 other teams who say "You won the championship in WHAT year? 2020? Uh, right." Truthfully, I had to wiki who won last year a few days ago. 😬 I just had to look it up myself, and I watched every WS game last year! I just don't think we'll care as time goes by. There's no asterisk for the team who won the series when the Black Sox threw it (props to those who can name that team). Same for the 1981 season, which I'm sure disrupted teams. You'd obviously want a top team to win it, rather than a team that's 28-32. Plus, beating a 28-32 team in the series will also be disappointing. But if it's Dodgers-Yankees and the Dodgers had to beat the Cubs and the Yankees had to beat the Rays, then it's hard to give the winner an asterisk. I'm just going to root for this being the year the Twins finally overcome their Yankees curse.

This is what my season has come to: Brewer gives up his second homer in 1+ innings and I find myself thinking in all seriousness “he looks pretty good today.”

Mitchy is easy to root for and a great contract. SHOULD be easy to trade and SHOULD get a decent return. This is a trade that SHOULD be done but I am ok keeping him because he is so likeable and professional. I wouodntrade him if the offer was GOOD.... Otherwise keep him and let him mentor

Hitting 96 w 4-seam? Cutter 92-94? Power curve? I just don’t get how some of them can lose location so badly. He has the pure “stuff” tonight. Just can’t locate and BOOM...he gives up 3 bombs in 3 2/3 innings. Is he a free agent next year or is he under control for another year or so?

Oy.
This pitching staff doesn’t make it easy to be a fan most nights. I know RR has made some lineup and substitution decisions that are easy to question. But I also think he’s got a really hard job trying to figure out which piece of duct tape he wants to slap on in any given situation. I feel bad for him. (But I kinda want Cora back.)

Brewer will only have 2+ years service time when the season ends. He's more like what we are looking to trade for rather than trade away.

See if he could develop into a #5 somehow that gives you 5 or 6 innings per start and an ERA around 4.50.

He has a better arm, at least, than what they’ve been throwing to the wolves. Deserves a look. Even as a 5/6 guy, he’d be a real find if he can find a bit more command.

well it's pretty hard to win when you give up 9 runs and Verdugo, Devers, JD, and Xander go 0-15.

Brewer may very well be a candidate for a No. 5 starter role. We have a lot of those, which is to say we have a lot of bad P's.

Really disappointed in Eovaldi this year. I had hoped he'd pitch well enough to have a team make an offer for him. I don't think a team would even really care to claim him off waivers at this point.
2 more years after this of mediocrity for 17 million per. What a bad contract. It's even worse with the loss of revenue in 2020.
Maybe if the Sox eat 7-8 million someone might want to try him out as their Closer? Then again, I'm not that desperate to dump him with such a weak rotation going into 2021.

His other five starts are all 5 or more innings with four or fewer runs. In six starts he's been worth .6 bwar, over a full year that a 3 bwar pitcher. He's earning his paycheck this year and has been much better than I expected.

I think we can all agree he was a 3-4 area starter as a ceiling, and he's had to be our #1. Different circumstances including who he has to matchup against and I think we'd be quite happy with his performance. My main concern with him is durability, his arm is always one pitch away from the next TJ procedure, and for a guy with such velocity, teams sure don't have any problems barrelling him up. I know he's adverse to it, but I really think he belongs in the pen long term.

shagworthy, I'd highly suggest selecting the "BBCode" tab when you type your replies involving a quote. If you just type your post after the last bracketed "/quote", it won't go inside the quote boxl.
