Robinson Leyer is making his major league debut. Good luck to him.

All three players called up were minor league free agents signings.

Assuming he’s done after his one inning, that’s not a bad debut for Leyer. Some hard hit balls but he’s got a live fastball and his slider looks pretty effective against righties.

Alright well if his performance this year hasn't budged you at all then you're pretty determined to not look at things logically If I looked at it mathematically, I would love Barry Bonds. But I am grateful to my pals telling me who I should like!!

5 Ks in 7 ABs. Tough start for Dalbec. But I’m good with that ratio if he hits a HR every 7 at bats, too.

Do I have the right guy ? Was Chris Martin the guy the Red Sox found working at a warehouse ?

Are we looking to drag this out in thread after thread after thread to infinity ? Thank you. Sorry if you find this annoying, Manfred, but I found it pretty annoying to sift through a million inane posts about how Verdugo can't hit the ball in the air.

Chavis and Dalbec back to back in the lineup is good for the tank at least?

Welcome to reality in MLB Bobby Bombs
6 K in 8 AB and 2 questionable hits? (Albeit, 1 a HR, but a terrible 0-2 pitch by the pitcher). I want to be excited, but concerned the K rate is too Chavis-like.

Chavis and Dalbec back to back in the lineup is good for the tank at least? 5-9 in the lineup is 1-16. That is not so good.

Stop counting out Dalbec after literally 8 ABs. Yes, he’s struck out six times. But it’s an 8 AB stretch. Give the kid some time to adjust. He just got called up. More importantly, he hasn’t looked lost at the plate. He’s not setting the world on fire but he’s not being hopelessly overmatched either.

I think he looks overmatched on off speed and is guessing. 2 called third K on fastballs right around the belt? Now I agree that it’s been a grand total of 8 AB so I’m not writing him off. I just simply said welcome to reality. 6 K in 2 games is a lot though, no matter how young or who you are as a professional.

I always felt a Middlebrooks vibe in Dalbec. Hope he proves me wrong.

I always felt a Middlebrooks vibe in Dalbec. Hope he proves me wrong. Totally different animals. Middlebrooks had a huge swing zone, particularly on outside pitches. That worked well at Salem.

I was kinda kidding earlier, but honestly... what do we expect from Dalbec? He’s hit a homer and K’d alot. That seems like him. If he keeps doing the former, he can do the latter. It just needs to be a decent balance. Two games in, he’s... what we were told he is.

It should be noted that Dalbec was late to camp because of Covid and didn't exactly tear it up at Pawtucket. It was more just a case of being his time. The only other option was Ockimey who wasn't tearing it up either (except he hit a mammoth blast today). 2020 is a dead year anyways, the experience will do him a world of good but he's unlikely to turn the Sox into a playoff team.

Really, aren’t we as much hoping Dalbec performs well enough he makes for a good trade piece? I mean, he won’t be at 3B, and Casas is the better 1B prospect.
