Ouch. That kind of walk off loss hurts.
It hurts a fan like me. I‘ve heard it from enough posters here that you want to lose. I get it. Not this fan.

Clutch loss from Barnes there
Verdugo, Devers, and Dalbec homering in a Sox loss is probably best possible outcome for a Sox game right now.

What do you all think of the 7 inning thing? I don't mind it -- it has enough time for the game to be meaningful, but not enough where the second game is an endurance slog.

Devers' double could've been a triple if he hadn't stood in the batters box for like 5 seconds and then literally skipped toward first base. Still boggles my mind how often major league players do that.

But if the rule stuck around, I'd imagine if our team was down a run late in the middle of a tight pennant race, I'd feel robbed of the two extra innings to mount a comeback.

The 2020 Pirates are a truly fearsome opponent, and we've got the Rangers, Royals, and more to contend with as well. Can't afford to let losable games like that slip away if we're going to keep our dreams of Rocker or Leiter alive.

JD's been invisible all year I think the question is: is any part of it real decline, or is he just off because so much of this is a mess?

I am happy to make lemonade of this lemon season, but c’mon... these losses are embarrassing.

i saw one MILB game with Bobby Bombs. He was on fire and he crushed pitches. I knew from that one game he would be in The Show.
Can he stay ? I hope so, because those HR's are friggin' awesome to watch.

Hey man, it’s been a garbage season, but a funky inning called by Rem and Eck entertains me no matter what the scoreboard or standings say.

Mazza was the 838th pick. And here he is throwing a good game. It’s the little things that make it beautiful. Menlo College (?). Now... Boston Red Sox.

again, Dalbec's got some of the easiest power I've seen in a while. He doesn't have to take a crazy hack to launch it, just make contact with the ball and it flies.
4 games in a row with a dong is a new Red Sox rookie record.

Actually, getting under luxury tax and getting two position players going like Verdugo and Dalbec could make w/l record look meh. Not to mention a high draft pick

Dalbec now on pace for 90 HR. And 126 total hits. Pretty good ratio! ADD: Aww nuts, that single dropped his ISO to .469.

If Dalbec can fill in those two gaps in his swing - inside high strike FB, outside high strike FB - he’ll be an all star/40 HR guy.
Only been a week, but will be interesting to see if teams start busting him inside then going up high outside.
