If Dalbec turns out to be real, and Casas keeps raking through next year, what is the plan? Do they move JDM? Wait out JDM’s contract? Sell high on Dalbec? Or... could Dalbec play outfield? He has a cannon. If Dalbec and Casas both work out, with Dalbec's ability to play first and third you can rotate Devers, Casas, and Dalbec between the field and the DH and keep them all fresh. And if we reach that point and JD is no longer what he was, have to figure out what to do with him then.

I am amazed to see that Arauz has not hit since he had that layoff a few weeks back. he was stroking the ball with ease until that point and it seems he has forgotten how to hit.

JD might be amenable to playing OF 80 games in a season.

JD might be amenable to playing OF 80 games in a season. Oooof! Let’s hope not. He can be a butcher out there. Our really good teams have all thrived with outstanding defensive outfields. Let’s get back to that.

Let’s get back to that. It's crazy but the best Red Sox team of our lifetimes had Nunez butchering 2b, Devers fumbling the ball at 3b, and JDM playing about 50 games in the OF, but yeah, your overall point stands. I guess they could have put you or I out there and still have won just about every game and the Series in 2018 - just that kind of amazing year.

Yeah, JDM is a bad fielder, but he can’t be so bad that his d loses more runs than Devers, JDM, Dalbec, and Casas create IF the latter two prove so good they both force their ways into the lineup together. I’d be just as worried about injury and fatigue as he gets older. But if they have to juggle the lineup out of strength (too many power corner IF guys), it is an awesome problem.
I do still wonder if Dalbec could be serviceable in the outfield.

I mean, you would think some utility guy or maybe Verdugo would be a tick faster. But Chavis seems like a really good athlete, like one of those quarterback/shortstop/point guard guys in high school. I am not shocked he moves well.

I bet Chavis would be an awesome running back
Anyway, Matt Hall is the worst pitcher I’ve ever seen put on a Red Sox uniform. I currently have him worse than Kyle Hart and Zach Stewart

wow, so Tapia throws serious heat up to 101mph? I wish it showed more swing and miss that inning, but his stuff is promising.

On the HR, either Gameday is off or something went wrong. It shows as a 90 MPH 2 seamer. That's off.

Leyer combines the two things I hate most in a pitcher; poor command and excruciatingly slow pace.

Leyer combines the two things I hate most in a pitcher; poor command and excruciatingly slow pace. Wasn’t he 97-98 regularly when he came up? I know he struggled but he was 92-94 after 10 or 12 pitches. He doesn’t repeat his mechanics at all and is so slow in between pitches.

Rays better be careful here. Xander hasn't had a 9R HR all year, he's due.

I didn't notice it but according to MLB, the Rays all lefty lineup was the first in history.
