Two thoughts:
If this start actually increases the odds that we'll see this Nate Eovaldi for the remainder of his contract, that dwarfs any damage to our draft order in June from a win.
Is anyone else bothered by hearing "Go Your Own Way," a covertly bitter breakup song (and easily the best thing Fleetwood Mac ever did), re-recorded in a near-Muzak version and used to celebrate personal choice and opportunity ... to sell some product?

I’d be psyched if Eovaldi blossomed, but I also feel like he could just easily give up 4 home runs next start. Still, even if he is a wild mix of results, having dominant starts mixed in makes him worth having. Fleetwood Mac.... post Peter Green?

Sorry, tankies, the Red Sox just aren't as bad as you want them to be. 13-14 over their last 27 - why, that would be on pace to make the playoffs over a full season! And that's essentially without a starting rotation...

That's up there with using "Born in the USA" as an anthem of uncritical patriotism.

That's up there with using "Born in the USA" as an anthem of uncritical patriotism. Apologies for the massive thread drift. Decades ago, there was an actual push to have, “Born to Run” as the official State Anthem of New Jersey. I like Springsteen well enough and that is a great song but when you consider the actual lyrics... it simply doesn’t fit at all as the official song of anywhere. Back to baseball.

There was only one then some pop group used their name.

That's up there with using "Born in the USA" as an anthem of uncritical patriotism. Uncritical patriotism? Is it possible to be a patriot without critical thinking that enables you to want your patria (country/homeland) to be the best possible version of its self? Or do you mean uncritical nationalism? Example: I am a devoted Red Sox fan but I cannot countenance its ugly social past, have forgiven it, and look forward to it returning to its best version -- 2004, 2007 - 2008 (the 2008 team was arguably a better team than the 2007 team) and 2018.

Incandenza, I do understand your point though, we Red Sox fans sometimes can feel lost in the wilderness without a compass to find home... like for 86 years. And we are often misunderstood, often thought of as zealots without the tools of critical thinking.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pushing hard for a high draft pick, but splitting the series with the division leading Rays and then taking 2 out of 3 from Miami (another playoff bound team), is impressive and hopefully a positive sign for next season. The Houck debut was especially nice to see.
