They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

At this point I'm hoping for the highest draft pick as possible but I get the feeling this will be the series where the Yankees don't treat the Red Sox like a pinata. I think the Red Sox are better off losing yet will win two of three.
While seeing Houck against the Yankees is interesting - still think he winds up a reliever whether he pitches well or not against NY on Sunday, the Yankees have their best pitching prospect going, Deivi Garcia, who I think has a #45 on his belt to honor his idol, Pedro. Why not? The Sox have a Jeter in their system now and we know why Bogaerts wears #2. Crazy how that works. Garcia is somebody I think might have a good chance of being a mainstay in their rotation.

interesting stat, on JD being very unlucky in the home run category, and Mookie being the luckiest of all hitters this year

So all that is registered in Mookie’s major league lead in bWAR? Only to the extent that park factors explain why Mookie has hit extra home runs. It seems like Mookie is getting additionally lucky, so his WAR is artificially high. That's hardly a knock on him though. The league leader in WAR in almost any year is going to have benefited from some luck.

For the first time in my 73 years of rooting for the Red Sox, I find myself hoping that the Boston kids play great and that the bullpen snatches defeat from the jaws of victory in each of the 3 games of the Yankee series. I hope that Manfred does not screw things up by creating some formula to take 2019 into consideration in the draft order after I have for the first time EVER rooted for a Yankee team to beat the Sox.

Raise your hand if you expected a pitching duel.
I can't climb on board the lose to the Yankees train so I am rooting for a Red Sox series sweep followed by losing the rest of the season and finishing with a top 3 pick.
