I wonder about the status of Munoz and Verdugo. If they are both day by day, only JBJ, JDM, Lin & Chavis have outfield experience.

So blooms has found a couple of useful pieces in Munoz and Arroyo. Then in perez and valdez. Am I crazy to say if he has money to spend in the off-season he could turn this ship around fast. Guy has an eye for talent.

As much as I hate losing to this awful team, if they're going to pull this crap and be pathetic against the Yankees now is the time. I look at it this way - if God came down to me the day after Aaron Judge blasted his boom box to the sounds of Sinatra's "New York, New York" and said (as if this can REALLY happen - lol), "I'll let the Red Sox massacre the Yankees 16-1, with Brock Holt of all people hitting for the cycle, and then finish them off the next day. We'll even yank the Yankee fanbase's chain and have them lose when a fly ball does a reverse Bucky Dent and stays in the ballpark instead of giving them the walkoff and then we'll even have 2 defensively challenged ex-Yankees combine on a dramatic bang-bang do or die play to finish off the pinstriped bastards, and have you win the World Series with 119 wins and even have you enjoy watching for the 2nd time that post-season having your Red Sox players taunt the Yankees by singing "New York, New York", stealing their anthem and rubbing it in their faces - THE CATCH IS after all of that the Yankees will beat the Red Sox like a pinata, whacking them around the next two seasons to the tune of losing 24 of 29 games (I'm assuming the Sox drop the final two against NY, too??!!!) - would you take that? Well, I'd take that deal in less than a NY minute! So let the Yankees kick the crap out of the Red Sox when it matters least, especially if it helps the Red Sox get the highest draft pick possible (maybe the 2nd if Manfred doesn't screw them). That's what I keep telling myself because otherwise I'd be totally nauseated by the gutless, loser way they've played the Yankees the past two seasons. I agree with everything you said except that the Sox are gutless. The Yankees have superior talent that has resulted in them beating the Sox 11 or 12 times in a row and the Orioles 24 of 27. I'm glad to see the opinion tide turning on Bloom. He is looking under every rock and appears to have made good trades. I'm just waiting for demaineah to come on board to cement the deal.

Not much baseball left in the year they could bench both for the rest of the season if need be. Let jd close the season in the OF.

My original context was what if they are both day to day.

Gutless isn't the best choice of words. I'm just not sure what the exact word is. If there's a better way (I'm sure there is!!) to express the way they are at their absolute worst when playing the team we hate the most, I'm open to it. Yes, the Yankees are superior talentwise. But it's been kind of more than that. It's the way the Sox blow late inning leads to them when should close them out despite their inferiority, the hitting into a killer DP, leaving runners on base, giving up that two out killing hit, etc - basically the polar opposite of how they treated NY and Houston in the ALCS in 2018. The Orioles and also the Twins play the Yankees the same way - as if they're bowing down to them to honor their greatness. The 2004 Red Sox and 2018 Red Sox didn't take any crap from the Yankees. The 2019 Sox and 2020 Sox do nothing but take crap from them. Yes, the Sox should lose the majority of the games to NY when they're clearly inferior, but 5-22, c'mon - they should be better than that. Like I said, the good news is if they have to be that way, NOW is the time for that nonsense.

Nobody hates the Yankees more than I do. You might be near my age group, but I had to endure years as a youth when they beat us like a drum. It's probably why I'm not 6' tall. We got some revenge 2004-2018. But just once I'd like to see us beat them 22 of 27...or 12 straight....would do a body good.
What you were alluding to is that we (and others) lay down against the Yankees in homage. Martin Perez, Vazquez and Arroyo didn't spit the bit.

I mean they were up 4-0 and were what an out or so away from victory and couldn't hold the lead - again. I mean even when you lose 22 of 27 not every hitter is going to go 0-5 every game nor is every pitcher going to get bombed every outing. The bottom line is they lost yet again to them, but as I said, if that's the price to pay for what they did in 2018, then that's quite alright with me. Just return the favor when the Sox are serious about winning, which in 2020 they clearly weren't as we knew that was not the first priority of the organization. I don't know if my tone is coming off angry - I'm not at all. Honestly at this point I care so much more about the draft pick than anything else the Red Sox are doing on the field anyways to be honest because it's all about the future, so if going 0 for the season against NY helps that, then so be it.

Nice one, just not that high on the prospect of taking a hs arm/position player. They almost never pan out. I want a college arm or the best college position player that does not play ss.

Puello in RF, batting 9th. Mazza, RHP

Wow, those numbers are so much lower than I realized. That is a great table to have whenever the discussion turns to failed draft picks. It is hard to find major leaguers, even in the first round.

Puello in RF, batting 9th. Mazza, RHP I couldn't be more psyched. Let the Puello ear begin!
All Mazza has to do to earn a 40-man spot, facing this lineup for the third time, is to be credible.

Crazy that hs position players have better odds then college players. Maybe that has to do with the elite players skipping college all together. Great find.

I trust Bloom implicitly. We will make the best, most reasoned choice whenever our turn comes. No guarantees. House, Leiter, other..no matter. I am no expert or scout. But reading a few draft mocks, looking at House videos and seeing that even at 16 House's body is somehow incredibly going on 22, causes my adrenals go into hyperdrive.

lol, I noticed that Puello has been a SSS career 3.2 BWAR/150 player. Absolutely worst case, great emergency depth.

Best odds in the first round are college pitchers for reaching the majors and playing 3+ years. High school pitchers are a tough demographic -- Hunter Greene says hello!

If you’re trying to decide what to do with a top 5 pick, wouldn’t you need a study of top 5 or top 10 picks?
