They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). Sox rotation says they have other plans.
Last series I got my wish of seeing Tapia against the heart of an order. This series I want to see him in a high leverage situation.

I have a bad feeling the Sox are going to kick O's butt.
I mean, I'll be happy to see Pivetta pitch well, and I hope he does, although if he didn't, it's not like I'd give up on him - it's only one start. I just hope the Sox struggle to score runs or the bullpen implodes.

I’ll gladly take a 1-0 loss.

I'm not overly confident with Pivetta. I think the prize of the trade was Seabold. What I see in Pivetta is premier stuff with no control. Very reminiscent of Webster and De La Rosa. I believe the Sox will give him a shot at starting next spring but if he doesn't improve the command of his breaking stuff, he'll be a middle reliever.

Ideal outcome for all 3 games: starters pitch great, the kids administer punishment at the plate, and the bullpen (ideally the Stocks and Springs of the world) blow 5-run leads to still lose.

3 exhibition games.
Braves series this weekend. Braves & Cubs fighting for #2 seed. If Braves care about that, the series matters. I can't see why #2 would be significant in this case

Man, I just realized that this might be JBJ last series in Fenway in a Red Sox uniform 😔

Pivetta has struck out 4 in a row. His stuff looks pretty nasty, not surprised the Phillies held out hope he could be a mainstay in their rotation.

ERod - Gausman - Eovaldi - Peréz - Pivetta is what I want to start the year next year. With Houck starting in AAA.

last week of the competition. and what a strange competition it has been Seen some of the hopeful future, gonna see tbe end of some of the great past.
My goals haven't changed. Win as many of these as they can. The players deserve the best they can get.

The Orioles are playing like the Orioles, whoda thunk it.
Pivetta with nice strike to pitches ratio, good to see.

Well we have Houck as well, thought that was implied. I wouldnt want to get much more adventurous with starting pitchers in free agency with Sale out the first half and our need for relievers and an outfielder.

market value !!! I don't expect to see him back here. If it were up to me, I would offer......3yr / 24 -27 million. I don't think that will get it done.

Man, Verdugo is just so solid. Once he starts lifting the ball more he's going to be one of the best outfielders in baseball.
Also, Jonathan Arauz: Down for the cause.

Devers came up hitting the fastest pitch for a home run off Chapman, and nowadays he swings through everyone's mediocre cheese.
Still a great hitter, but his damage is on breaking balls and I think teams are starting to recognize it.

I'm baffled that Devers is swinging through those 90-92 MPH fastballs tonight.
