Chavis now with 22 straight plate appearances without a K. This is my personal quest now: to see this streak through to the end of the season.

Mazza looks good tonight. Useful piece to keep around I think.

Just seeing that Aaron Boone got tossed from the Yankees game for arguing balls and strikes. The nerve of that guy is incredible. Being a Yankee sure has it's privileges. Sure he got tossed but there is never a vendetta like Lester used to be subjected to for saying nothing and looking annoyed.

Even worse the fool is losing it and spraying the ump with saliva and the pitch was a strike. Not even arguable.

BTW, the way you root in circumstances like this is to hope for awful luck.
Dalbec and Chavis and Verdugo hit 108 mph line drives at people. Your pitchers string together a deadly series of bloops, seeing-eye grounders, ans swinging bunts.

I like the announcers: “we’d say if it was a strike...” — uhhh... looked like a strike. Love that Eck always has to have it, friend or foe.

You know, at this point, I wouldn't be overly upset if I had seen Houck had thrown 5 IP and 1 ER followed by Dwarinzon with a shutout inning, but does Chris Mazza have a place on this team next year? It looks like the Sox are about to open up the scoring too with 2 games left after this. The Red Sox are currently tied for the 3rd worst record. It would be nice if they could just hold onto 3rd. Disappointing they played themselves out of the 1st and 2nd.
Is there a clear number 3 in the draft? It would have been perfect to get a top-rated pitcher because I know you don't draft for need, but it would have just fit so perfectly with best available and need.
And yeah, I know Chris Mazza has every reason to compete his rear off. I'm not saying I wish he'd purposefully lob fastballs down the middle. Just disappointing seeing him do so well in a meaningless game when he doesn't really have a future with the club.

Chavis seems to be trading strikeouts for weak contact

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he's the 2nd pick. So, hopefully they lose and lose out and can get the 3rd overall. With a pick this high it's a must-hit, especially if it's top 5.

Chavis seems to be trading strikeouts for weak contact I'd rather see that. Room for improvement if he's making contact.

Adam Duvall with 4 LOB so far tonight. Hopefully he's not responsible for the Red Sox tumbling draft pick. Redemption time.

Swanson missed a sinker that was about middle-middle.

dammit Braves, stop sucking. Dansby got three mediocre Weber fastballs in a row and struck out.

That was a frustrating series of events. If the Braves lose this then I hope they get another elite rotation with 1 ring over a decade.
