I kind of assume this is his frustration speaking. Guy just had a major injury that I think we all probably expect to end in TJ and lost time. But truthfully I find it a little difficult to believe that going without sunscreen for two starts suddenly snapped his UCL. I’m no doctor, so maybe? But it just sounds like he is lashing out (which I get, cause getting hurt sucks). Not to mention he's basically straight up admitting that he was cheating. I’d guess that a significant majority of the league at least uses sunscreen or rosin, both of which are banned now. Glasnow’s point of view is one that is shared widely among pitchers, his injury just gives him a little more cover to say this stuff publicly without risking blowback from the league, extra attention on the mound, etc.

Yeah it's mixing sunscreen with rosin that's banned. Rosin by itself is actually allowed in the written rule, I believe.

So deGrom left after 3IP. He had 8 Ks through 3IP. That's him dealing with an injury. That's insane.

Just watched Guerrero Jr hit into a triple play with Semien and Bichette doing a keystone cops routine on the basepaths.

Rays were ahead of the Mariners for the first 8 innings, but they gave it up in the 9th and lost 5-4.

Ohtani will be pitching in the ASG and also hitting in the Home Run Derby. I don't really pay attention to these exhibitions and tend to take a break from baseball during the ASB, but the phenom hitting bombs in the rarefied air of Colorado? Yeah, I'll watch http://instagram.com/p/CQRUgWRp_aS

...and they lost again, in extra innings this time. Sox are back on top in the AL East since they have one less loss.

...and they lost again, in extra innings this time. Sox are back on top in the AL East since they have one less loss. Wednesday in the ChiSox rubber game they rallied from 4-0 and 7-2 deficits to tie the game in the 8th, and got walked off in the 10th.
Thursday in the Mariners opener they had a 5-4 lead going into the 9th, but they got walked off when the only out Pete Fairbanks could get was a popped-up sac bunt attempt ... but two of the hits he gave up were hard-hit grounders with xBA of .410 and .440, and the other was a 90.1 mph double.
Tonight they were down 5-2 after 2 innings, tied it with a Lowe solo HR with 2 outs in the top of the 9th ... and got walked off on the first pitch of the 10th.
So not just a 5-game losing streak, but their 5th, 6th, and 7th walk-off losses, versus 2 wins. We have 3 wins and 1 loss.
Offensively Rays are -1.87 wins in Inning / Score Clutch, we're +2.11.
Our defense is +1.13 runs and theirs is +1.00.

ON A .500 TEAM! How the Angels are only able to generate frivolity out of Trout and Ohtani legit befuddles me.

I know sox rays has the attention tonight but anyone following the nats and Phillies game at all? Scherzer got checked 3 different times for sticky substances. He stared down Girardi on the way to the dugout and Girardi came out yelling. Got ejected, quite a spectacle. Definitely doesn't help mlbs optics with the whole foreign substance ban.

Sergio Romo basically making a mockery of the league and almost taking his pants off during an inspection, I love it

Sergio Romo basically making a mockery of the league and almost taking his pants off during an inspection, I love it I actually think the policing of this going forward might be able to be done pretty easily. Umpires (or people in the booth) watch the pitchers during the inning, look for any suspicious things that the pitcher does in that inning (esp. when a new ball comes in) and provide some areas to check, and it's done within seconds. I'm sure the data scientists can build a deep learning process that watches the pitchers in real time and can detect an abnormalities. The same algorithms that they use to drive on the roads could also detect substances on the body. Other algorithms can identify repetitive areas where the pitcher touches. The Scherzer situation I have issue with, managers will start doing it for gamesmanship and that's just wrong. I don't see how this will work if they allow managers to get a say in the process.

Angel Hernandez single-handedly is the posterchild for robot umps. This should-have-been strikeout would have continued the no-hitter in the 8th Monday night but instead Baltimore hit a home run the next pitch.

Jeez, man, don't give them ideas. Those are some Foucauldian nightmare vibes...

Cubs with the combined no-no last night, finished by Kimbrel, who had no idea what was happening.
