I didn't make it for Day 1 of Red Sox Baseball in Worcester, but I did get out there for Day 3!
Opening notes: Possibly the first time I'd been in Worcester since I saw the Thompson Twins at the Centrum with OMD opening (that would be December 21, 1985). Driving through Kelley Square is every bit as terrifying as I'd heard. The park is definitely not finished but it looks like it's going to be a great place to see a ball game.
Gotta love April baseball. Jeter Downs and ... I think César Puello (and yes, I'm kicking myself that I didn't see him in that coat in the outfield!).
Some pregame infield practice: Downs, Jack Lopez, Yairo Muñoz.
Austin Rei took some grounders at 1B.
And Jonathan Araúz got a little pitching in from 3B.

Action shots of moving players were a bit hard to come by; the rows of seats nearest the netting were roped off for player safety and while the netting is quite unobtrusive to the eye it is less so to the autofocus. Had a bit better luck with relatively stationary poses.

Jarren Duran
I don't know what happened in this Michael Chavis at bat, but clearly it was funny and involved something very small. (I hear video broadcasts start next week!)

Chad De La Guerra made a terrific diving stop, and his throw was well dug out by Herrmann at first, and both plays were much, much better than any photos I got.
Muñoz was asked his assessment of CDLG's play. "Easy!"
Herrmann and Ockimey
Rei did make his way back to catching.
Let's see if this works--a very short video of a train passing by that also shows some of the still-under-construction aspect of the park. Next time I'll see if I can get a few shots that show the park itself better.

After the 2020 season, the team moved to Worcester, Massachusetts, and became the Worcester Red Sox. The Pawtucket Red Sox were born as a Double-A Eastern League franchise in 1970. Three years later, Boston's Triple-A affiliate in the International League replaced the PawSox Eastern League. I think we'll see a lot of interesting matchups again shortly. While I wait for the new matchup, the Lacrosse season has begun. My son loves the sport, so I bought a lacrosse net for him www.amazon.com/Victorem-Lacrosse-Rebounder-Baseball-Additional/dp/B09YTYNBW3. Now he can practice in peace.
