They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

My mood for the day is always linked to how the Red Sox did last night.

Piggybacking on Devers discussion at the end of the Orioles game day thread, i think he just suffers from a lack of concentration, really, on both sides of the ball. Uber talented as he is, it may be something he struggles with as long as he plays.
Great run for these guys. Let's hope they can continue the good work.

I'm going to piggyback on what ericvan posted yesterday. As someone who lost his ability to throw out of fear, I don't think it's concentration but rather thinking too much. After some bad throws, aka Knoblouch, Sax and others, I started thinking about throwing which should just be natural. Once I started thinking about when to let the ball go I was done. So as was said yesterday, Cora can help him stay out of his head and just be an athlete. This is why confidence is so important in all of sports and defines what people mean when they say the game has slowed down for them. It is true in all sports, you can tell when a player is hesitant as they are thinking about what they are trying to do rather than just doing it. In a game situation there is not really the time to think, everything is more reactionary. When your'e playing with a high level of confidence there are moments when you even surprise yourself with what you can pull off. Sure concentration is important as you need to be laser focused but Devers making great plays leads me to believe it isn't that so much as maybe over thinking, especially with the throws.

The Twins rotation looks tough, should be a good test for the Sox.

Let's Go Sox. Keep passing this Test.

Should be a good test, for sure. The Twins have also had one of the league's most potent offenses, and they're getting Josh Donaldson back today or tomorrow. Plus Berrios is coming off that unreal duel with Burnes. Buxton is showing signs of finally getting it together at the plate too.

This is certainly a big test because the Twins are the more complete team. I would take their staff over the Sox

Yes thinking coupled with angst for what negative might happen. I don't think it's all ingraining proper footwork. That line drive double play on throw to first was instinctive...no time for the brain to sabotage the body...

Where SP are in current depth chart (Twins, Sox):
5 vs. 5 1 vs. 2 (but arguably 1) 2 vs. 1 (but arguably 2) 3 vs. 3
Couldn't ask for a more even set. I'll take a split.

Tough series because Happ always seem to give us fits and the rest of the Twins staff is just bonkers. A split would be nice.

If this is because of protests due to the shooting yesterday, they should probably just move the series, right?

I have to say I am so over the era of games being postponed for reasons outside of weather. I just want to watch baseball every day.

I understand. The Twins feel they have to deal with this in their own way. I'm listening to Baldelli right now.

Are we getting a double header then? God, I hate the 7-inning double header that they've kept around this year.

Remember in 2015 when the Orioles played in an empty stadium in the midst of the protests after Freddie Gray's death in policy custody? Who would have guessed that was such a harbinger of the near future.

Safety first. Some things are bigger than baseball. Wonder if they’ll move the series to Boston instead.

The weather delay has given the Twins time to address what's going on in the streets. The MLB website is posting 6:35pm ET as the start time. We'll see if that changes postponed.

I feel like they really sugarcoated that.
